It’s been a minute but I’ve finally gotten back into working towards getting one of these on the road. I took the good advice you all gave me back in 2018 and have chosen to focus on getting the 74 running. I think I’ve made more progress towards that end in last two weeks than I have in the last 5 years. Got both axles off, started stripping off anything that was bolted on, and most notably got the engine and transmission out. Spent the last week tearing down the engine and got pretty far until I realized that I didn’t have a 46mm socket lying around to get the crank pulley off.

I plan to take the engine in for machining and cleaning. There was obviously some water inside. Am I being optimistic to think it’s salvageable? Delta Cam is local to me, so I’m going to see what they think about the camshaft. I’m prepared for the possibility that the cylinders will need to be bored to get to clean metal, and have already reached out to FJ40Jim about new oversized pistons.
