Just joined the forum but bought my FJ 80 new in 1994. Have been in love with it since. I’m retired but not ready to retire my cruiser. Only 300k miles, runs great but starting to show its age. Just had Gary at Mudrak in Sonoma do a tune up and safety check. Hopefully ready to go for the rest of my days. Do not want any new cars. But, it needs some minor r/r of various worn out accessories, new front seat leather and a exterior paint job. I’m looking forward to spending time and money restoring it to its original stock appearance. I have already used this forum as a guest many times to glean very helpful information to ease me into the DIY. I was a busy practicing general surgeon living the credo of “first, do no harm”. So my tendency toward timidity with DYI car repairs in fear of breaking something else out of ignorance. Ih8mud is the cure. Thanks

Hi, 300000 it’s just getting broken in. Mike

Welcome to the forum. :flipoff2:
I personally love the color. I am in awe. 300k original owner. What are your plans in the time you have left?

I want to drive my cruiser through every national park and monument in this glorious country hitting as many 4wd roads as possible. My lovely wife of 38 years likes driving it more than I do!

Finished a big refurbishing; re-upholstered front seats, total paint job in stock red, with all new door/window seals, trim; new ARB bull front bumper; new Pioneer radio
then my CEL just came on !! DTC‘s 25,26 and 71
replaced EGR valve, modulator, and VSV; cleaned both O2 sensors which otherwise checked normal by voltage and resistance
cleared the codes and holding by breath (NOT)

Looks great! Original owner 94 here too. Been through the ringer together and part of my soul lives in that truck. :)

Same philosophy as you = don't want a new vehicle but plan to ride my 80 into the proverbial sunset.

That is very pretty. I would be afraid to drive it now. The bumper color match is really nice. I would be afraid to drive it now. I really like the fact you kept the stock rims, they are great. BTW, I would be afraid to drive it now.

That paint job is hot shizz

Very nice! Can we see the interior work?

You did a great job. What is next on your to-do list?

windshield wiper motor dying is sending me into “part not available” conundrum. Maybe heading off into the salvage yard direction
