So I figured I would start a new thread on Old Blue so I don’t clutter up the Honey Badger . This is My Friend Mikes 40. I believe this was his very first Land Cruiser that he bought when he was like 18 or something . I will let him chime in with all the details. Old Blue is a veteran of many GSMTR runs. And I don’t think there is a trail in Tellico she has not done . Fast forward about 15 years I talked Mike into bringing her out west . Old Blues last trail had a lot of carnage and she was just sitting since . Basically nothing worked anymore. And if it was not broke , rusted off or dented it was no longer there . The first thing I needed to do was to get it running again . It has a GM TBI. . I took that all apart and rebuilt that Drained and flushed the fuel tank . It was nasty . New coil. Some new wires and she kinda ran again . The Rear wheel had broke off on the last trip. And did a bunch of other damage . I got that all fixed and new rear disk brakes . The Front diff was broke so I knew I would have to tackle that at some point . Then I got this great idea that I would take Blue to Sierra trek this year . So the past 2 weekends I have made a pretty big push . I will just say this if it could be bent broke rusted or hard to get that is what it has been the past 2 weeks . With the clock ticking . I had a brand new front diff with a ARB so I figured I better get started . The new diff had a Toyota triple drilled flange. And of coarse the drive line would not line up to any of the patterns . . I pulled the front driveline off my 40 and it lined up with the diff but not the T-case Ok plan B. Just swap out the yoke . The front springs no longer had any bushings in them So that was next . I will circle back to that later because I think it is a very poor design with how the shackles are , but they work for now . Now while I was messing with that stuff I caught my eye. Hmm why is the axle in a different spot on the spring from one side to the other . Upon future inspection the spring pin had sheered and the axle was 3 inches back . And on and on we go
