TTT. How's this unit doing with our fun heat wave? I'm getting closer to needing to order for test fitting soon. My yard it crunchy, ground is pulling away from the foundation and home ac is barely keeping up. if this unit cools your rig in this heat then you got the ticket!

Havent had alot of time to check back on this thread...Getting killed with work and school...

I LOVE IT!!!!

It works very well!!!!

If I had one thing I would change, is that, I would have the fan put out more CFM's, that is just me personally though, I like alot of airflow.

Once the summer term ends, I plan on doing a better insulation job, I currently just have insulation mats on the floor with rubber mats on top. Once the summer term is over, I plan on fully lining the floor of the tub with dynamat, and I have the already ordered my carpet kit from Cruiser Solutions.... I ordered about 2 months ago, the website says 3 weeks for manufacture and delivery... Anyone else have issues with them?

I had similar issues with them once ordering a simply Body Mount kit. I finally cancelled my order and got a refund.

I ordered the deluxe carpet kit from them and had a similar wait time. They contract it out to a local company and build them to order. The fitment of the pieces wasn't as good as I expected but then again this is carpet in a 40.

Had I done it all over again I would save the money and create my own. I used insulation from Cruiser Crap and a thermal barrier from Dynamat and was please with the results. Now I will worry every time it rains that I am adding to the moisture conditions for rust.

So if I am reading and viewing this right, there is no provision for heat to the floor? Only defrost to the windows? Is that correct?

Cheers!

I appreciat this thread so much... after much angst and research, I finally pulled the trigger on a Hurricane 2000 with the pipes on the side. I was wondering about the one with them coming out the upper part of the backside, but opted for the proven route. They take 2-3 weeks to fabricate the unit, so I have some time to work out the rest of the system, but I wanted to get them started while I sort things out as to the rest of the parts.

Earlier today, I called Vintage air and wanted to share the info:

Bracket (alternator & compressor) $149 #15465-VTB
Compressor $249 #04808-SWA (takes 3/4" wide belt)
Condenser $225 #06180-LTA (17"X18"X1/2"thick)
Hose Kit $115 #54681-LTA-A (not yet cut to length)
extra cable pull (if needed) $39
Shipping (Tex to Louisiana) $45-$55

The folks at Old Air were super accommodating and said I could use whichever parts of theirs I wanted to and they would help me to decide.

Questions Remaining:

Mounting to Firewall... you said that you would have drilled it and attached directly as opposed to the brackets... I like that idea a lot... Another poster said he needed to shim to accommodate the shape of the bulkhead... what do you think? How would you do it?

I really like the OA bulkhead fitting with the threads on both sides as opposed to cutting and using grommets. Old Air said the one I would need will have a #10 & #6 as their condenser has #10 on the top and #6 on the bottom... (Vintage is same)

I also haven't decided on the vents yet... will post pics as project develops. I like the original heater vent in the center, but may keep the stereo there.

Compressor Pulley-Vintage makes one with a 3/4 pulley for the 2F and I need to ask about the OA pulley size. (the Old Air compressor is a "Sanden" style, so it will work with the Vintage Bracket).

Condenser - size to fit F2 radiator and the Old Air is 1" deep or thick... I don't want to move my radiator back or trim the cowl... Do you think the VA condenser / compressor are doing OK or would you have gone all OA had you not already installed the VA?
Both OA and VA condensers have #8 and #6 fittings.

TTT - a great reference for anyone looking for a winter project -

Question for an old thread. I am thinking of using the plastic vent from the stock heater in the radio slot as in the pictures from early in this thread. How did you connect the ducting to the vent?
