Ex, comments on the tent (size, vendor, stability, quality etc) ?
thx
E

MARES tent, dunno the exact size but it sleeps three adults. Imported, not available for sale in the US. Quality is very good, I don't think quite as good as a Hannibal but it was 1/2 the price. In terms of stability, mounting it over the trailer made for a very nice fit, still above ground but not quite as high as on top of the Cruiser.

Easy, guys, chill out, I was posting from work, and didn't have any pics of my M416 conversion there with me! Here's a shot of my project trailer, taken about a year ago. I am getting ready to finish up the propane tank, water tank and re-wire. and it should be good to go.

What are you using for your axle? Looks like it matches the toyota 6 lug.

HAHAHA I friggin knew it. Like Rhino said, you're welcome back anytime!

I don't actually have a trailer yet. I'm still looking for a 416 out there somewhere for a good price. The pics I have are of your trailer. I was all over the net for a while tryin to find one to use as a base to build from. But you know how it is, sometimes life takes over and other things become more important. My wife is due with child #2 in October so I've been really focused on getting the 60 together for DD status. The original plan was to build a trailer to tug behind the 40 but now that I have the 60 I think I'll be building the 60 as the camping/exploring daily driver rig with the trailer mated to it and then the 40 will be relegated to rocks only.

FJ40crusher,
That axle is a custom one built in AZ way back in the day.

WELCOME BACK YOU FAWKIN NEWBIE! :flipoff2:

damn, I was going to think about a funny/warm welcome, but you beat me to it.

Glad to hear you back, Henry.

As for an offroad trailer, I'm building one for a friend as we speak. Custom everything 44/52 x 61 x 21" box, M416 style with independant suspension.
Timetable is being short, but we'll see how it goes. It leaves for Portugal at the end of next week :D

So I was cruising my local scrap yard this morning looking for some angle iron and such and I came across this. It's on a mini rear end, I think, and had 32 x 10.5 TSL's on it, including a spare. The scrap guy wanted $35.00 for the hole thing. I saw a modified Samurai pull into the parking lot, blaring the Butt Rock, so I high-tailed it back into the office (after I cleared it with the "boss" (my wife was along)) and told him I wanted to buy the trailer. Needless to say the Sami-guy was bummed. He offered me $40.00 before I had even paid for it.

I wasn't sure if it would fit, but I hoped, gave it a try and viola! I need to go back to the yard and get some 2 inch tubing to extend out to the 45 bed mounts, but hey, alot of time has been saved. I know it doesn't have a tent, sink, propane or any other cool gadgets but I am excited. It even sits level with my 45. I had to swap out the wheels and tires for Cruiser ones as the mini's had too much backspacing and would have rubbed on the 45's inner fender well.

everthing fits if you force it..............

Looks good.

I keep driving by a guy who has a old FJ45 bed and tailgate, pretty sure he has no idea of the value as it sits year after year. This year I will approach him with a min utility trailor for swap?

I wouldn't wait. Just stop and offer him some cash.

Here's a nice set-up. You could have a fold out shelf off the fender top for a table big enough for a two burner stove, plumb a gas line from your tank to the fender.

Incorporate a slide out table off of the top of the trailer, if it's not too tall.
