Looking for an aftermarket skid plate for FJ40, plan on buying a IronPig version if I cant find anything locally. Figured Id ask here to possibly avoid shipping costs if someone had something they were using first.

Putting this out here before I put them on CL or Facebook Marketplace. I have 5 Milestar Patagonia black labels 38X13.50X17. One is brand new, Never touched pavement or dirt. The other four are in great shape. I had them on my LC Buggy, basically one year of wheeling about 4 to 5 trips. No rash on the tires. I would like 300 per tire and I want to sell all five of them. The black label is a slightly softer compound then the standard patagonia's. I upgraded to a 40 Sticky. No rims. I had the tires mounted on bead locks. Lots of tread left on them. If your interested send me a PM

Not sure if anyone is interested:

I picked up an 01 sequoia for the motor and trans for the an upcoming motor swap in the buggy. If anyone needs sheet metal or parts that I am not going to use, I will let go for cheap. Just PM me if you want anything, ill send you a picture. The running gear is a little crusty, I think it was parked on grass for awhile.

Call this a pre-sale question. Lifelong New Englander here, but living in DC now. I stumbled on a rust free 100 (2001 non-nav, non-AHC) down in Georgia 6 weeks ago or so and ended up buying it. It's a River Rock Mica "green" with 350k miles. I bought it knowing it would need work - including both axles, steering rack, brake lights on dash and pads/rotors - but the friend with a lift (everyone should have one) just put his place up for sale wanting to capitalize on the market. I could probably manage my way through some of this, but a shop down here also suggested that it could be leaking from the oil pump seal, which while super rare, is an engine out repair by the books (though there are Youtube assertions that it can be done without doing so).

So I have a spot held with 2001LC who does legendary work on the 100 out in Colorado to get this sorted... but that is 3 months away and I'll have to deal with getting it there and back, and he'll have it for a few weeks no doubt... so was considering other options. The no-rust is less of a thing here, but home in NE would be a notable exception. I would only sell it to someone who is comfortable doing their own work and who knows going in this will need some issues resolved. I bought it for $12k and would be comfortable letting it go for $10,500 knowing the oil pan seal question. I'd be happy to even deliver it myself once a check clears for a few extra $, for it drives fine now.

I don't know if I will make the effort to post a sale thread, but if someone in NE region knew the backstory and still had interest in getting their hands on a rust free survivor, PM me and I can take some photos.

Why don't you call Ironpig Off road in Fredericksburg va and ask them if they are interested in doing the work. I am biased but they are probably the best LC shop in the VA area. Ask for Lance, he is the owner.

Thanks for the recommendation. While I have heard of them, I have not visited personally. It seems we have a bounty of LC/LX specialists in this area, that other parts of the country would be lucky to have.

There is just no way to financially justify paying a shop to do this work... which is why I was only flagging this for people who have the space and ability to do their own work. If I still had regular access to a nice garage, I planned to knock out a bunch of these myself. The advantage of bringing it out to Colorado is that he does not have the overhead or time constraints of a shop to turn cars daily, and therefore doesn't charge accordingly. While it will still be more than I originally planned when i was only looking at it as my time and the cost of parts, it should be considerably less than a professional shop.

The truck is very corroded as it was from NH. 165K original miles. In my opinion, it’s about $12k over priced.

Anyone want an FJ40 polyethylene fuel tank for 1973-78 truck? I just replaced mine (temporary) with permanent factory fuel tank and no longer need. FREE

So I converted my drum e-brake to an axle one and started last year in fitting the brake cable to the truck. Things weren't going well and since I had to fab and mount a bracket I pushed it off til this year. More fiddling and swearing and looking at picks on mud and it finally dawned on me that I might have bought a RHD cable. Ordered a LHD one and it fits much better.

Free to a good home RHD e-brake cable installed but not used. 8/80-83

Are you close to having your 40 on the road?
