@Pancake Donkey , I have used air lift bags in the rear of my 80. its cheap (100$) adjustable and easy to put in. and can give 3 inches of lift in the rear (when over inflated to 50 psi) and help support load.

@Pancake Donkey like others have stated, drive it just like it is. Save up and plan your modifications accordingly. The factory roof rack is plenty strong for a roof top carrier but not a RTT. RTT's are CRAZY expensive. We bought a 6 person waterproof REI tent for a 1/4 of the price of a large RTT.

Options to consider:
DIY J-moose rack $400 ($340 with 4 mounts instead of 6)
1" body lift $120
Dutchwaregear or ENO hammock $70
Saving account for repairs

BTW, when I moved from the stock tires to BFG KO2 285/75R's, it "lifted" mine by about an inch. No biggie, but it does look better than it did, IMO. ;) Before I got the new tires, I had been planning on getting a 2" lift, but afterwards, I like the look so much, I decided to wait for the time being. Am I going to get a 2" lift eventually? Who knows. But I'm happy for now. Good luck!

Thanks guys! When it comes time for new tires I'll upsize to the 285s. In the mean time I'll look into coil spacers etc for a cheaper alternative to the OME lift kit for clearance. I've currently got a snorkel (TMS safari knock-off) and new antenna mast waiting to be installed. I'll look for a good guide for the snorkel install since I don't have a stencil. In the mean time I'll be trying to do some preventative maintenance since I know nothing about greasing fittings and changing fluids. Might need a new head gasket soon as the block is covered in a thin layer of grease and/or coolant. Anyway I'll get my noob ass outta this buy/sell thread and stop clogging it up haha. Thanks again everyone, I'll be sifting through the 80 series tech stuff to try and learn a few things.

Everything Else :)

I don't know about the leaking coolant, but I had oil leaking around my distributor, and it turned out to be a simple fix of replacing the O-ring ("dizzy-o" as you'll hear it called). Not sure if that's your issue, but you can look for oil collecting under the distributor area. If there is, it's worth replacing (only a $2 part), and there's a great youtube by Texasknowhow that covers how to replace it (and other things), and provides a good education in the process. Good luck!

Anyone in the Raleigh area that can look at a trailer of me? If so send me a text 864_325_2313

Looking for a new DD now after my sister totaled my Volvo and finally got a settlement from the insurance company this week. Might be in the market for a 2005-2007 4runner or 100 series around the ~$9k and under price range if anyone knows of someone looking to sell in the next month or so.
