If you could fine a running olds diesel id be surprised. Turning a gas engine into a diesel can be done but not how they did it.

They learned from that though and had Detroit diesel make the engine on their next diesel try

Yep, GM ruined the diesel market in the USA. That is one of the reasons why diesels have taken so long to come around. Don't get the old folks started on how bad the GM diesels were which meant all diesels were BAD. :<)
