Finally got my TJM Airtec snorkel and got it installed. Thanks @mcgaskins for the sage advice and letting me pick your brain on the fly!

Couple things I learned:
Mine did not "lay down" perfectly along the quarter panel and A-Pillar after I drilled the holes and was test fitting as Matt's did. I am not sure if the 2008 LX570 Quarter panel is slightly different vs the 2016 LandCruiser quarter panel, or if I just suck, but something to note. When using the provided template you are instructed to line up the top of the template with the top of the quarter panel, but there is also a mark to align with the the crease in the quarter panel. These did not match up for the LX. If I aligned my template with the top of the quarter panel my crease line alignment mark was about 2CM too high and visa versa. I ended up aligning with the crease mark as the snorkel has a bend to mate up with the crease line and I did not want that part off. Once I started tightening everything down it all snugged up nicely and the snorkel is now tight and flush against the quarter panel all around.

Using a stepper bit to drill the hole out give you much cleaner hole than a standard metal bit and allowed me to slightly oversize the holes which gives you some wiggle room on alignment.

I did not have to do anything with the AIS hoses. The inner snorkel body is pressed up against them but they are semi flexible and a little push was all it took to get everything aligned. They do not appear to be pinched or constricted in anyway and no CEL's or other side effects. Matt did the same but did not re-install his fender liner. I did reinstall my fender liner. No issues.

No wind noise!! I took the truck up to (Autobahn) highway speeds and no wind noise at any speed. This is a HUGE plus, my Safari on my FJ was definitely not silent.

No wind noise but it DOES make noise! At WOT it makes a fantastic intake honk. Never noticed any intake noise inside the truck with a snorkel before, I am guessing this may be because the largest portion of the intake faces sideways towards the driver. Definitely an unexpected bonus. It is subtle but adds a nice bit of growl to an otherwise very muted V8.

That is exactly my intention, to roll with stock 20s while I'm hunting for wheel/tire combo.
Do you think you'd have any fitment issues if you had stock bumper?

Yeah, when I picked up my LX, I drove it directly to the tire shop to get these KO2s installed. I wasn't prepared to do a full wheel/tire upgrade so these were a temporary fix. The tires that were on the LX were possibly the worst tires I have ever experienced. I don't remember the brand but nobody at the tire shop had ever heard of it and I remember googling them at the time and not finding anything about them.

In any case, they are great tires. The only downside about the combination is the additional weight which is about 15 lbs over and the ride on 20" wheels isn't great (that's true even with high-end touring tires though). One other downside is that this size is D rated.

There are no fitment issues. This is a pretty conservative size and there is plenty of space (too much empty space for my tastes). Here is a pic with the stock bumpers:

You may want to consider looking at the 285/60/20 instead. It is E rated and is 33.5" (versus 32.4). While I can't say for sure that you wouldn't encounter rubbing somewhere, if you can find a shop to check the fitment for you, it may be a better option if it works. Of course it adds another 10 lb per tire.

Hey. What tires on this rig in the first (2 plus year old) pic? Thanks,

Same tires 2 years later and they are holding up great! Still almost like new tread-depth 30k miles later. I'd make the same choice today as they strike a pretty good balance of aggressiveness, low noise, winter and rain traction, off-road traction, and on-road traction/NVH.

New shoes today - Falken Wildpeak AT3W LT285/65R18 on LC wheels.

Still need to trick the center caps into fitting on the front wheels, or get the LX version.

What roof racks are people going with? I’m hoping to use it on road trips to free up the inside of cargo.

There are a couple of threads discussing RRs at great length. I would summarize by saying that it depends on what your goals and constraints are (ie, Do you plan on a RTT? Do you have a low clearance garage? Are you looking to accessorize? etc).

The most popular options include (but not limited to):

- OEM LC Rails
- Gamviti
- Gobi
- Rhino
- Prinsu
- FrontRunner

I personally have a FrontRunner and I am very happy with it. It does have a somewhat high profile, but the quality is great and the customer service has been excellent, plus they have an impressive collection of accessories, although they can be pricey.

Keep in mind that the mountings are exactly the same for LCs and LXs so all roof racks for the LC will work on the LX, even if they don't advertise it as such.

And finally, I would strongly recommend looking at the new rack from Dissent Offroad. Had it been available at the time, I would have gone with it without hesitation.

Went up to the Bowman Lake area for the weekend. That area simply amazes every time I go. So many trails leading to alpine lakes, meadows, old homesteads, and remote campgrounds. There just isn't enough time and every place you go seems better than the last. I did a loop starting at Yuba Pass on I-80, down 20 to FS18/Bowman Lake Rd to Meadow Lake Rd Around Bowman Lake, to Jackson Meadows, to Webber Lake, to 89, back to I-80. Camping stops at Lindsey Lake, Faucherie Lake, and Webber Lake. Here are a few shots:
