I havnt looked into it yet, but I will check them out. I'm sure my pump is different since I'm not a lucky 1zfe? Owner. Pretty sure the radiator has to come out, so I'm not looking forward to it...especially since i just did the hoses and a flush this fall
I got to winch someone out of the snow on Rampart today, and I wasn't even "on duty" Na Na Naa Boo Boo...
Andrew, I've never had to pull a radiator to change a water pump. Once you pull the fan and fan shroud, you'll have all kinds of room under there. Get a clean pan and drain the new antifreeze into it, re-use it when you're done. You'll be back on the road in no time! I've been buying all my parts from Rockauto.com as of late, they're slashing the local parts store prices with a big ol' machete. check them out.
Glad Luke was in the right place at the right time. Good job, Luke!
The regular Saturday crew helped out a couple times that I know of. We gave a short tug to a two-wheel drive pickup that couldn't get up a slick hill. We also helped a long wheel-base truck at the end of 314 where there is a switchback just before the 315 junction. The driver couldn't make the climb after getting around the corner. He had recently bought the truck (used) and wasn't familiar with it yet. Turned out he didn't have the hubs locked. He also needed a little help finding a better line and then made it up fine.
Jeff and Karen brought along a very sweet young dog which they were 'dog-sitting' for a friend. The pooch did his best to be mellow and patient during all the trail driving of the day. Then in the afternoon Jeff found a place off of 323 away from cars (except a truck that followed us in and asked about the one-way sign). The dog got a chance to get out of the truck and be frisky for a while. He romped and played with Jeff and loved collecting sticks. I had fun watching the young dog's remarkable agility and boundless exhuberance.
I also enjoyed chatting with the other club members whenever we met up. All in all, a great day. Thanks.
Travis, David H, Luke and I were out today. More donuts, then a slow morning. We helped Travis find a tree on 300V but decided not to tempt fate again on the ice. Luke and Travis had to leave in the early afternoon.
Dave and I poked around for a bit and were headed south to maybe break a little early as well when a call came in on the forest service radio for some help on 315. We couldn't reply due to a low battery, but turned around and headed down. Found a durango with very bald tires sliding off the off camber section. Jeff was there from the north side - I think he was the one who called us. He already had his winch line rigged though a snatch block on a tree up the bank and another line tying up the rear.
It took two pulls to get him safely back on the trail and owing to the tire condition Jeff decided to pull him all the way to mt. herman. Dave and I followed them out. After airing up and turning the radio and signs back in, I was heading down the mtn by about 5.
Thanks for the update Eric. Glad to see you guys at least had a little action after I'd left.
And thanks for helping me pick out my tree fellas, the wife was a little underwhelmed by it ("It's so....sparse"), but this morning she said she really like it.
Thanks to all that came out and volunteered their time and gas money for this important event. This was another safe, fun, and successful event as several people benefited from our presence. The Forest Service is understaffed and greatly appreciates us being out there. Even on slow days things can happen, as posted above. Also, thanks for all the reports that have been posted.
