I was hoping for lots more snow this morning. Makes me want to slap a weatherman. I feel like I was ripped off again.

Same story down here. I was hoping it all dumped up there and didn't make it down the hill. Very disappointing.

Yesterday we were predicted to get 8-18 inches today its 2-4. I'm guessing we will be lucky to get 2" out of this. I get my hopes up just to have them crushed yet again. Makes me have ill feelings towards the weatherman community.

Lmao. Like I told Leon, depending on which channel you were watching, or which weather app you looked at, I decided we were going to get between 1/8 of and inch to 12 inches. Great job guys.
I think they've overloaded themselves with technology and become dependent. It's time to throw away the super Doppler, first alert, whiz bang radars and get the pencils back out :D

Gents,

I'll be attending the funeral of a coworker on 12/7 so will be switching to Sunday 12/8 for tree patrol. See ya then. sg

Sorry to hear that Sam.

As for the weather forecasting comments, I never heard anything about 18" here or Teller County, maybe the central mountains. I think you all need to learn more about your sources, some are better than others and stop your :crybaby: If I recall correctly all the NWS discussions were accurate which is amazing considering the challenges of weather forecasting in general, much less in a mountainous area that we live in. No, nobody is perfect and even NWS does miss, the atmosphere is a chaotic system after all so things change and forecasts are updated. Get off the stupid apps and actually read something about weather forecasting and maybe you will learn something. Oh and yes it is quite cold, just as forecasted...hmmm. Go back to 1940's pencil and paper forecasting... LMAO

By the way, the NWS forecast discussions are archived and anyone can read them for themselves.

I hope Kyle doesn't dignify these comments with a response.

The two stupid apps I use are NOA (weather.gov) and Accuweather.com. I would gladly use something better if you let me know what they are?

I didn't mean any disrespect to Kyle in anyway. Discussions and comments about the weather and weather forecasting are common in society. I'm surprised that it seems to have offended Leon. Leon I apologize for upsetting you.

No worries Chuck, I was not upset enough to warrant an apology but thanks just the same. In hindsight I should have deleted when I had the chance.

Let's just leave it at there is more to it than posted here and I am dropping it.

As for apps, I don't use them and didn't know NWS had one as I read the NWS web page forecasts and associated discussion pages. Never saw any mention of the amounts you posted, not even close.

If you follow the link you can click where you want the forecast and below the map there is a link to the current forecast discussion and archives.

Back on topic, we may be busy given the snow and cold. I saw a Jeep guy on the way home driving with no top  Very tough or very stupid. I hope he is not up there this weekend or we may have a hypothermic rescue.

Just an FYI,

I received this information from Jon Pfeiffer today about snow conditions in the area:

Not too bad… varies from 1 to 3 inches in places. Maybe 4 inches (TOPS) in the northern portion of the cutting area (325, 327, 351., etc.). On average, anywhere from 1 to 2 inches, with snow packed road cover.

4 Wheel Drive highly encouraged. Having chains with your vehicle: Recommended. Roads are snow packed, and ice covered in spots.

As of 1400 hrs…Robby was working the pavement section a little more with the tractor blade.

I was really hoping they would work on the main road before the snow covered it. The washboards on rampart are just horrible right now. It's very comparable to driving on Old Stage, just shakes your rig to pieces. On the bright side, it'll keep the speeds down.

I was down on 300v last night, and the ice glacier there is not too bad yet. I still recommend only running it west to east though, which means you would come in from 300u. I haven't been down 315 to check the "slide off" spot, because honestly, I just stay off 315 while its snow covered. Everything else is very safe with 4 wheel drive engaged. I don't think chains will be required at all this weekend unless you are pulling someone uphill.

Thanks for the reports. Great advice on 300v and 315. I was wondering about chains, now I will hold off putting them on when we get there and just plan on airing down to begin with. I will still carry them of course.
