tell me more about your LS2 powered 80. tranny / tcase combo? what axles? build thread?

Always loved the shortbus, even though truggies are not my thing. Not to many 80 truggies out there. :cool:

OK I will play. IMHO 37"s are well worth the expense, effort to fit, they work very well with the '80 on the trail. In my experience, if the plan is to have full flex and body work, the key is relatively narrow tire and correct back space wheels, there isn't much room for error.:hillbilly:

I run Cooper Discoverer STT in 37x12.5R17 on Tundra wheels, with 1.25" spacers, if doing it again, would go with 1" spacers. There is room on the inside, but under some conditions touch body work on the outside. The Tundra wheels have more backspace than stock wheels, so this setup is about like stock wheels with ~.5" spacer.

Shocks - OME L's
Bumpstops- Front - stock; rear - 3" drop
Body Lift - None
Trimming - 3" out of front fenders
Tires- 37x14.50x17s
Rims- 17x9 w/ 4.5" BS
Spacers- 1.5" all around

You're trimmed in the back too it looks like ?
 
looks more to me like the tire did its own trimming :D


and you have to read between like 3 threads to really gather what Tools R Us has done to his suspension...ive spent hours on it as i plan to closely follow most of the work he has done.

Bumpstops- Front - rear -3" body lift pucks for bumpstop spacers
Body Lift - never
Trimming - Lots
Tires- 38 x 12.50 x 15 custom cut TSL's
Rims- 15 x 8 cheap steel rock crawlers with 2.5 backspacing
Spacers- None.

Holy Crap It lives...... when's it coming home?? I want to drop by after work to see it.

That's bad looking.... what kind of mesh did you use for the grill??

6 inch slee lift
1 inch spacer up front
37x12.50x16.5 goodyear wrangler mt
No trimming at all (at least untill I find my 40's)

awesome collection of 80s. 37s are the perfect tire for the 80. thanks guys for the inspiration. i hope to add mine to the collection in a couple of months.

Sweet, just bought the new fourwheeler and saw the write up. Definitely gonna be down for the next one.
