Well maybe not wheel at night, but what fun is that!!

All good. Can't wait to see how the 80 does in the dunes. I expect it will be do much better than my poor old 60.

So what do I NOT DO to let this happen?

Horse power would have prevented that and better lights might have too. The 80 I was following had no issues holding the line. The 60 couldn't muster enough wheel speed and slipped into a very steep bowl. I call that bowl the Sarlac Pit. It's up against a fence and the south east end. I actually have a picture of another 60 the year prior with winch cables all over it that was rescued from the same fate in the middle of the day.

Looking before you leap is a good way to prevent any damage but just being realistic here, if you wheel long enough one day you are going to bend some sheet metal.

I will be there. Seth let me know if you need any help with anything and get ahold of my parents at some point, they always have fun lending a hand.

Howdy guys, new member. Long time Toyota owner (have driven an st185 celica all trac for the past 10 years) but new truck driver. Picked up my 3rd gen tacoma last year. Spotted a caravan of you guys driving away from Pismo last year on the 101, vowed to make it to this years event. Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you guys, ill be in the stock '16 quicksand tacoma.

Finally!!! I get to go. Any recommendations of who to reserve a trailer down there with? The wife is coming and hates cold wet mornings!

I wish it was the weekend prior but we plan to be there none the less and intend to keep my truck off of its roof this time around.

s*** happens at the dunes sometimes. Ive rockcrawled my 80 but the worst body damage happened at Oceana Dunes during a turf n surf. I was actually pretty lucky it did not go all the way over, Roof straight and no broken glass.

Is there a certain area I should tell them that PMC normally camps at? Never been down there.

yeah, right by the guy in the 40 and that other guy in the 60....
pretty close, (but not too close) to the guys in the 80's since that's where all the grub is.

Definitely NOT by the guys in the 45's...they like to go to sleep early.

If you see a fully stickered 80 with no owner in sight, be warned. He's probably rolling in the coals in the morning. (oh nuthin..)

It's trucks for a solid half mile square by Friday night. Just tell them to turn off the huge LED light bar and fake getting stuck.
Get out and yell "lets just tap the keg of Sierra Nevada here Dude!" and they will meet up real quick.

Last year it was great. The light parade gets better each year. The Sand Trap is crazy deep.

We usually get a picture of the Fam next to this board.
Not sure if it's still in existence or not though....you'll have to try and find it..only a dozen square miles of dunes to search...

Jim was there last year keeping a low profile. I chatted with him for a bit.

90% in. Will be my 2nd trip to the Pizmo dunes from NorCal, but first Surf n Turf event. I wonder if we could combine the NorCal baton swap with this?

Does anyone show up in non landcruiser/non toyota vehicles? Trying to persuade my buddy to plan a trip for next year but he is a bronco guy. It looks like a blast sorry to miss out on it this year
