I can sympathize with that situation. You've got a wagon with decent clearance, AWD, and you figure you can probably get by with that... sometimes it works out, but if it doesn't, it's a bad day!

Cutting it close on my drive back. What's weird is that the last time I filled was at a station 327 miles away. Just filled up and it took 20.5 gallons so that's about 16mpg. Looks like I could get about to 350 highway miles on a tank. Not bad considering I have armor and 35s.

I was at 0 cruising range with 3 miles to go on poison spider. Made it back into town and still only put in 21 gallons. Toyota gives lots of leeway with fuel rations. Was talking in Breck about needing a volunteer to drive it to empty to see "just how far you can go".

I'm pretty sure the 0 miles left is when the gas light goes on. Not when the tank is empty.

Gas light goes on you have around 4.5 gallons .... at 10mpg (at worst) you can get another 45 miles BUT DO NOT hold me to that

Low gas light comes on between 10 and 20 miles cruising range.

The fuel capacity is listed as 25 gallons. 0 cruising is at 5 gallons left.

Based on listed specs, and personal experience this week.

We purchased our 2014 VX TTD last October with 26000kms on it (off the Father In Law). It has been serviced at Toyota every 10000kms (or 6 months) and is like new! Last weekend I was astounded to find that the diesel fuel filter isn't replaced at any time in normal servicing! I only found this out because the 'Fuel Filter requires maintenance' warning appeared on the dash - on Sat afternoon... Looking in the manual - it is to be taken to an authorised service centre as there is a problem with the fuel system... On Monday I rang Toyota and they advised to only drive a max of 500km before getting it replaced, and to stop immediately if it loses power. The filter costs $35, and they charge 30 mins labour (about $140 all up)... we had to drive more than 500km before I could get it booked in, so got it changed myself - $35 and 5 mins later, and it was done...
I personally think this is ridiculous that it is not carried out as part of normal servicing - and hugely inconvenient (and expensive if done at Toyota) to have to do this out of normal 6 monthly servicing requirements!
Interestingly, the father in law now has a 2016 VX - the servicing manual states the diesel fuel filter is now part of the normal servicing (every 40000kms) - not that it would have helped, as it happened at 37000kms.....
Will be carrying a spare and an Allen key for now on....

Rant done - Feels better to get that off my chest....

Came off the trail that night in Moab with 0 miles left of Cruising range, got about 21 gallons in her at the station. It's times like those you are glad Toyota built in a safety net!:)

Did you recalibrate your odometer and speedometer for the 35 inch tires?

I'm thinking I'll sell my '03 and get a second 200. Found a sweet '15 for sale.

Someone here please tell me I'm insane, then order up the necessary meds for me.

My daughter wants to buy our 100. If she pulls the trigger, I'm thinking I'll do it. This one I found is one owner, garage queen, perfect, with 20k miles. My bride will love it.

Stupid question spoiler...been looking for awhile with no good choices yet. Anyone know of a winch mount for 200 that allows me to hide within OEM bumper?
I've read about azfir but no luck and local fabs not really interested.
Thanks!

can you elaborate a bit?

Did you somehow find a 200 with no towing package?

If he's looking at asfir I bet I was a typo and he is looking for a hidden winch mount.

There is a thread on this, and if I recall, asfir was the best option, but they aren't selling in us anymore. If you could find one, maybe a local fan shop would duplicate it. Probably a few people interested

I think he means winch mount since he referenced AZFIR. Ironically I just happen to have a new one in my barn in case he's interested. I got buck fever and ordered it at the same time I ordered a ProLine bumper. Bumper got here first!!

@crawlAZ hop on that offer. San Diego is only a few hours away and a lot better weather this time of year
;-)

I'm definitely interested and local. North Park, SD.

PM Sent.

EDIT: I'll be second in line to CrawlAZ since he posted about initial interest. Let me know if it doesn't work out.
