you're running an unsealed uniball unit in PA - grease the hell outta that thing religiously

Uniball UCAs are a serious pain in the butt. I would only run them if I was doing something that actually needed that much strength like serious off road racing. They require constant maintenance to keep them quiet and will need to be rebuilt periodically as the ball and bushings get scored from dirt exposure. To quiet them you'll want to clean the ball by wiping it out and/or blowing it out with compressed air. Then apply some grease. That will quiet it for a while but it will come back.

I'd recommend either running the stock UCA if not lifted or the SPC (Light Racing) UCA that uses a greaseable sealed ball joint: http://www.spcalignment.com/compone...ruiser&year=2008 - 2016&from=USAFrom&to=USATo

Thanks guys for the replies.

I like what I've read about the SPC UCA's so far. This is the way I'm leaning now. My Cruiser? Well, it just leans to the right...

Would you guys trust your local Toyota dealer with installing the SPC's and getting the truck aligned?

Do you really have **100** SureFires??? Holy smokes!

So I ran out to the shop and laid out a few. Didn't pull any from the various places throughout the house, toolboxes, vehicles and none off of weapons. This was the pile in the box!

Ha! OK. We are now officially blood brothers. :hillbilly::grinpimp:

But now I'll have to gather up other misc. flashlights since you have laid down the proverbial gauntlet...!

I know how expensive Surefires are...so you've invested some serious coin in those. I think my most expensive flashlight was about $300...but I suspect you have maaaany in that range or above here.

My flashlight fascination started in South America when I was given a small, red, plastic flashlight that split in two halves with a side screw to reveal two AA batteries (with the cat jumping through the "9..."). Living near jungle paths, I stayed out later than usual as a 6 year old--with the plan to come home after dark so that I'd NEED my new flashlight. When the time came, the jungle path looked scary...and I ended up accepting a ride on our friends Honda 90 motorcycle (that what we used down there) and my flashlight plan was foiled. :( However...I've been enthralled with flashlights ever since.

My torch (flashlight) fixation started in the cub scouts when we had to make one out of 2 D cell batteries. It grew after I joined the Marines and a new company, then called Laser Products started working with my unit to develop weapon mounted lights for us. That company later became SureFire and I have been a on and off again consultant for them for many years! I have carried a SureFire everyday since about 1988. Most days I have a minimum of 3 in my possession, one handheld, one pistol mounted and one rifle mounted. Someday I'll round them all up and take a group shot!

OK, I KNOW how much that thing costs... ! How have you managed to come by so many of these??

Wow. That's very cool. Somehow I have managed to never own a single SureFire.

But about your explosion of flashlights...
-I think maybe an "intervention" for your glut of flashlights is in order,
and I think step one is for you to send them all to ME.
We'll get through this together... :hillbilly:

What I need to do is inventory/catalog them for my wife and kids so when I stop breathing, they don't toss them all out! Same with my knife collection.

Don't die...but just in case, I'll send them a pre-paid FedEx box addressed to me....:hillbilly::grinpimp:

Oh! I also have a knife collection!! Maybe we're twins after all?

So I haven't read this entire thread, might have been answered already and am finding conflicting reports online... Does anyone know the first model year Land Cruiser imported to the USA? was it 1957?

Yes. 1997 marked the 40th Anniversary of Toyota importing the Land Cruiser to the US...thus the 1997 40th Anniversary FZJ-80 Series.

Any car battery suggestions? Getting a new one tomorrow as mine is DEAD.
Thanks

I recently went with Optima Red Top - very easy to find. Does well for now but may upgrade to AGM soon.

Are you dual battery? Or just a single?

If you mean your main battery? I'd get the larger main tray from Slee, and the HUUUUGE battery it's made to specifically use. The Slee kit comes with the tray and new connectors. You just supply the battery. It is massive. I use it for my main, and then I have an Oddysey type 35 in the second tray.

It's designed for a very specific Interstate battery model:
Interstate 31P-AGM7

The posts are farther toward the middle of the battery, which is why the kit comes with new connectors. It's a beast.

Scroll down this page to see photos of my install of the kit:
What have you done to your 200 Series this week?

I wish I had time to order a tray from Slee. I'm visiting the inlaws for the holiday and my battery went out. So,
Not much time for exciting mods. Just need a good single battery. Not running a dual set up....no need for my uses.
Thanks for the replies.
