Useful info, but don't let it stress you too much. Let's assume that massive jump from 28 lbs to 40 lbs costs you 1/2 of an MPG (which it won't)... If you drive 15,000 miles/yr, you're looking at $55 more you spent on fuel.

This got better mileage...

... and I'm okay with that.

With the lift (less aerodynamic), 33s and steels wheels, bumper/winch (weight and worse aerodynamics)... my 100's mileage is about 1 entire MPG worse than when I started.

While weight many not be of concern to you @Manhattan

Weight is a concern for many that wheel/overland these 100's, if you aren't careful these pigs can really pack on the pounds. Armor, drawers, tents, gear, winch, wheels/tires etc... Pretty easy to get North of 6Klbs. I for one don't give the MPG a whole lot of thought nor concern, but I am cogniscent of weight for offroad purposes.

BTW, I freaking love the color of your 100. Don't see them often and when I was looking they were non-existent in my area.

I went from 110 lb (35's) to 93 lb (35's).... a difference of 17lbs. No significant fuel efficiency gain but the acceleration, braking and ride quality were all noticeably improved. I realize the weight of the tire is more important than the weight of the wheel.

Very good point @dubitup - MPG may not be an issue, but yeah - getting these 5,600+++ trucks up and over, the weight does matter for sure.

RE: color... thanks. I didn't know the color existed until I looked at TWO of them back to back. It became my first choice color. Bought the current one the day it hit AutoTrader (stock '06, 39,000 miles).

Did you paint these Tundra steel wheels grey? I can only find silver or black.

Same here; mine came bright silver. I had them media blasted and powder coated gray

Not to mention...removing the fender flares...that probably cost you. ; )

First off, Thanks OP for doing this. I appreciate the time and attention.

Thank you, I'm doing as much research as quick as I can. I'm not new to Toyota but my 30 years in dealer service work was all with Honda/Acura and me driving Toyota trucks. Tacoma and smaller not with the Tundras or the Landcruisers.

However I now have a 2000 LC so things just got REAL!

The Tundra/Sequoia/LC200 wheels that often don't fit w/o additional work (i.e. Spacers) are the ones where the center bore is not 110mm all the way through the wheel.

I'll be staying factory 16" aluminium through winter, then maybe going 18" steel.

Time will tell. I just love how they look!

Manhattan, do you have a part number for those great looking steel wheels, I want to swap out my 05 18" stock wheels. Also, any of you guys have a source for these in Austin.....gotta get ready for HIH!

Usually all over craigslist.

I know 42601-0C030 is a Tundra steel wheel, 18x8 and is silver. Or more of a utility grey...
You can get them online from many dealers for about 133 or so per wheel shipping not included.

I'm not sure if there is a black wheel PN, might be.

Don't forget you'll need new lug nuts for a steel wheel also. 90942-A1003
