OEM hub cap wheel colors

Here are some that I like. The first is a little different green. But I do like the white rims.

Pimp called my coater (in Borger, Tx); the code is RAL 7023 Concrete Grey. This is a powder code, not a paint code. He says that division of Dupont may have sold to a company called "Alesta" but the card still had the DuPont brand name on it and he ordered it through DuPont. Forget the chrome. Either do them in my color if you are a stickler for OEM or in the off white to match your hard top which would also look good. Notice how my gray matches the rear capped gray on the above post by Mantis. Exact; with a little hint of bluish green. Just bring them to Borger and I'll get you fixed up. My coater does all the work for the oilfield industry in this area and turn around is 1 to 2 days with perfect work. Also did my entire interior. Black is "Vulcan Black", a medium gloss. Silver (bumperettes, seat backs, fuel seperator cover, glove box etc) is "Silverdilla."
 
thinking now............off white with the hub caps might be a good look.

I want to run hub caps, that is why the change of wheels.
 
That pearl gray Japanese-spec softtop cruiser with the cygnus white
wheels is my favorite cruiser. Bet that gray would be hard to find.
What do think that is, a '72 model?

Do I have to hold your hand through this whole ordeal? Don't make me post pics of Concrete Grey together with Off White for your comparison. Don't make me...Just pick a color and go...This is a waste of valuable time...I won't do it...Don't make me... OK here. :D

There is only one correct colour and you already showed it.

Hey Doc your truck looks awesome with the white wheels. I think I like the gray better with your olive brown color though.

here is a pic of my split rim, I got a set of five brand new still with Toyota stickers on them from 4wheelauto in Canada, I like them alot but they don't have the tabs for the hubcaps.
 
IMHO, what you want is some contrast. Dark grey will give you less contrast. Light gray will give you more contrast. Go with the lightest color grey you can find. Anything with a green tint that does not match the paint will clash.

From the research I did, the color is Nebula Green. I had planned on painting the 40 I am restoring that color, I have been in love with it since I saw it. But, after getting the green OEM canvas made I did not like the match so the truck is going back to the original red.

I am dead sure it is a '73, the main deciding factor is it does not have the roll bar that started in '74. Along with the head rests that were only available from '73 to '74. See pic below

I am supporting you in this difficult decision. It's the exact reason why there is a set of new rims waiting to go to the powder coater. If I could only decide on what color. I really think the "Cyngus White" looks really cool.

I thought roll bars started in 73 and no roll bars in 72? My 73 brochure shows roll bars but no headrests. You are talking US models right.
 
The roll bar from what I have seen was started 9/73, going by literature. This was alos the time period the seats changed from the long style to the shorties. The head rests were an option starting in 9/72. I am not sure if the head rests were standard in 9/72 non-USA 40's.
 
many non US markets never had a roll bar........right up to 1984.

the sweet Nubla green 40 is a non US model, most likely a JDM spec 40, not sure when they go the roll bar.

there is also a Fasion Green(I think), used in the early 70's

Thanks. Your rig is very classy looking. I've never seen one in that color. If its not an original color, it should have been. Good choice on the cream rims with that color green. :idea:
