Ahh yes. That's pretty much exactly what I had in mind! I'd like to hinge mine low on the rear sill so the thing will open flush to the rear floor pan. If the minitruck latch mechanism idea results in too many tears, I may just use spring-pins mounted inside the tub that stab into the sides of the gate up on top.

Good stuff! :)

OH PLEASE! somebody, hep me! Measurements would be good or take a big piece of butcher paper and rub a crayon or a piece of graphite on the holes after you tape it fast... will pay ya postage etc. to mail it to me. Thanks!

Do you want just the hinge info or the latch info also?

Phil

Basically I need all the dimension or a template for all the wholes in the tailgate itself, to match the factory tailgate.
It would be cool too to know where to put holes in the tub on my 40 so if I made or obtained some hinges they would still match factory.. I plan on using the clasps off of the tire carriers and then using the factory amby door mounts for the hook that will be non-factory(booty fab) but mate with the factory latches and not loose the ability to use my amby doors.
Does that make sense?

The first bolt on the latches is 2 5/16th from the top. Then the outside of the inside of the latch should be flush with the side edge.(the two outside bolts would be ~ 1" in)

Ok here ya go Refer to the attached pic
The bolt holes are grouped and circled in red and are numbered 1-5.

56 mm between the hinge holes, so the center holes are each 28 mm from the center.

Not sure if you still need the template but it's on its way. I also traced a hook that mounts to the tub in case you wanted to fab one that used your door hinge holes.
Good luck.

Yep, I will use it too, I'm curious how consistent these things are...

Thanks for thinking about the hook, I wasn't sure how the one on the door would match up, it shouldn't matter as long as I allow for adjustment on the hook and the clasp.

Whoa, I actually worked on this today and traced a factory hinge that a local had, if someone has a spare or 3 let me know.

Well, it all fit together. I tried to make the lower "nut bars" for the hinges free/adjustable like the clasp holes and it cost me a lot of time and hassle. As munched as the original doors were it came out very good IMOP. I left off the bracket for the license as it will be easier to do body work/sanding w/out it. Next is blasting/bondo and paint... I'll be waiting for warmer weather. Maybe work on building hinges and hooks.
If anyone has a loaner hinge or some they want to sell let me know.
