I have an OEM CB radio that I would like to see if it works so I can sell it. Any help would be appreciated. I mainly need to know wiring info.

there is no info I have found for it. Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters was trying to work on his. Best bet is to take it to a CB shop and have them look it over.

tell ya what, working or not I would like to buy it.......shoot me a price off line if you would.

Damn it Pimp, ya beat me to the punch.

Toyota actually had 2 CB radio models a CB40F and a CB40M . I remember selling a few when they were new. IIRC it was 78 or 79 and they were only offered for a couple years. Toyota was a bit slow on the trigger during the CB craze and they STARTED selling them when most people quit buying them. I can't remember for sure but I think the 40M was the fancier one and it needed an external speaker to function. I have looked for either model off and on for several years and this is the first one I have heard of in quite a while.

They were in-dash mounts and required a fitting kit as well for most models. Come to think of it, maybe both of them had external speakers.

I don't know how it would mount in dash in a fj40?

They went under the dash in a 40, much like the 8-Track tape players did.

OK, thats what I thought, I can see in some of the cars or trucks it could mount indash. Someplace I think I have a pic or a brochure.........someplace.

anyone remember when they went from 23 to 40 chanels?

Convoy ;) which is actaully a really good movie(and I think was one of Sam Peckinpah's last movies), his best was the Wild Bunch(which is my all time most favorite movie, with some of my favorite actors, and one of the best gunfights ever filmed) he also did The Getaway(not the remake) and one you don't see often but is a GREAT flick.........THe Ballad of Cable Houge..... was on TV last week. Actaully The Osterman Weekend was his last movie.......and a very good one.

see what old CB's gets me thinkin about ;)

CB went to 40 channels in about 1978. The Toyota units were 40 channel hence the "40" in the nomenclature "CB40M"
I had an Audiovox 23 channel in my '77 Celica and the 40's came out shortly after I bought that radio :flipoff2:
