OEM Brake Light Switch Not The Same?

PN 84340-12012. The new “OEM” switch is longer and more difficult to install because of the length. The plug is also different. Bought from Cruiser Corps. Why is this?

looks like it would fit with the older plug, but the longer plunger could be a problem with trying to adjust.

I just installed the newer switch into my 71 FJ40. Had no issues with the fitment or electrical connection.

Looks to me like old switch would be simple to take apart. Bend the tabs and clean up the innards. Not much to lose at this point.

Had the same issue. Buyer beware. Refurbishing my old one.
