How much does it cost? R151f can withstand the power of safari turbo?

thanks F/B
i have been running the R141/R151 for a number of years now. they are definately no where near as tough as the H55.
when i talked to ENS a few years back they hated the R series tranny, weak R gear (shaft?). i bought a brand new R151 a while back and it started making noise after a couple good mud runs on 36" tractor tires, e/lockers, N/A PZ and a heavy foot.
the R141 i have been running behind a turbo, PI PZ has stood up very well.
i am not a fan of the R series but that is what comes behind the mine 1HZ, the PZ, the LJ and KZ engines.

as most of you know, AFAIC, the H55 is the only real tranny for a LC.

i have come across an old 2 piece case (behind a H41) with an O/D that is build into the output shaft end. i am going to pick this up and see if i can do a double O/D set up on my H55 in my FJ75. if that doesn't work then i might try and mate it to my R141 in the PZJ70.
might be fun to see what i can come up with.

yah but at this time it will stay R141.
when it finally dies it's painful death then i will install a H55F in its place ...

There is apparently a fix for the r151 trans
You can get a solid or upgraded shaft or something.

There is no real fix for the R151,they are just too feeble to heavy usage.
They are ok for a one gentle owner but in the mining and rental car industries they die early.
You can improve them by using the upgraded shaft which was introduced around 2002,but it wont help the synchroes and bearings.

Now what would get better fuel economy?

315s (35s) or 255/85/16.
A part of me would love the overdrive of the 35, but would rather have a skinner footprint.
Low range suffers a bit with a taller tire.
A part of me is leaning towards a 255 because of the tall skinny foot print. Low range wouldn't be as bad.

mud/street/winter/or?
Rusty was running 315 skinny on his 80 ...
skinny is better for fuel milage.
i want to stay with 32s on the 75, hence the idea of double O/D with 4.11s

Everything tire.
Street, Highway, Logging roads, 4x4ing, mud, everything.
Well minus winter as I have a separate tire.

What tall skinnys was he running?

I am thinking Toyo MTs. If I could get a 35 x 10.5 in something other than a super swamper I probably would. I just don't want them to burn up in 30,000kms.

can someone educate me which vehicle use R141?

Wayne ,you know there is a lot of very happy H151 owners out there..Its been around now for 22 years and is behind the 1VD FTE and still going strong.
