Nuts and Bolts

That would cover all the common sizes for sure. As was pointed out there are a lot of odd sized fasteners of which there may only be 1 on the whole truck. These can be hunted down but the Toyota dealer can get a LOT of bolts.

This is a good deal.
While it may be possible to beat the price on a one on one basis, if you figure in the time is will take to track all this down from many different vendors, you will be money ahead buying this kit.

Fantastic thread; great work you guys!

Maybe you all answered this already and I couldn't find it: have any of you found the zinc plated bolts with the captive washers and the concave heads?

Again, great work!

I've asked about getting the SEMS hex bolts and will see if they can source them, these are the ones with captive washers.

As for the flanged or regular, just personal pref. I think. The flanged look cool I think, and are nice to work with as they'll sit in a socket. I updated my original post to reflect this, but the flanged are also higher strength in my batch. 10.9 vs. 8.8 for the regular hex. The 8.8 should be fine for most of the stuff.

I have followed this thread from its inception . Guys might want to possibly source a plating company for their stuff. It is very economical, plus you have your oem nuts and bolts.

see here post #98https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/99015-04-75-frame-off-4.html

Auevco JIS Body Bolts with Captive Washers

I requested a quote on the nice Auevco Bolts that have been previously sourced and got some prices today. These are all Yellow Zinc JIS Indented Head with Captive Washers, very close to OEM I believe.

Seen here earlier in the thread.

The M6 sizes range from $0.15 - $0.25 (12mm to 30mm length)

The M8 sizes range from $0.42 - $0.58 (20mm to 40mm length)

This makes the Auevco stuff about 30% more than the flanged fasteners.

Just a FYI in case anyone really wants these. I would be happy to get them and ship out.

Might go for that. I'll have to take some time to sort through and figure out what I need for now. I know I have a hodgepodge going on in my interior after replacing broken & lost bolts, especially in the interior. Really hate having to switch back & forth from 12 to 13 mm sockets!

I just ordered some more YZN JIS hardware after getting a lot of interest in my first order.

I also found a place that does Cadmium Plating close by and might get some hardware done for max corrosion protection along with some other stuff.

If anyone would be interested in getting a Gold Cadmium Plated Bolt Kit, it looks like it would be about $100 extra.

Anyone have the Distributor hold down bolt size for a 2F?

I'd be interested in the Cadmium plating set since I have broken more on this restore than my mustang for sure and now that I'm only talking about the hardtop and doors. Can't imagine the issues I'll find with broken bolts to the tub, the frame and everything in between.

This is a long Thread and I tried to scan through it to make sure I'm not repeating someone else post but..... OSH - Orchard Supply & Hardware has a really nice selection of nuts and bolts, sizes, finishes, material etc. (Mainly Standard and some Metric) They have really saved my ass. When compared to Home Depot, Lowes, SOR and Man-a-fre - they are cheap too.

First, this is an amazing thread. Lots of good information, like this entire site.

Second I have been reading this thread for a bit now, and have a few questions. Is the spread sheet in Coolermans sig the one that people are asking about? If it is then is it only for the years 97-03?

Also if it is not then how do I go about obtaining it?

was this ever put into Excel? I wil;l be needing a whole lot of bolts when I go through my 76, would love to know a ball park figure on number and sizes. Thanks.

The spreadsheet in my sig is the latest version. It is in the older format of Excel (97-2003) for compatibility reasons. The new version of Excel will read it no problem as will the older versions of Excel. This allows me to only have to maintain 1 version of it.

It technically covers just a 2/71 FJ40 since all the ones I posted were for my specific truck. However as we found out when compiling this, a very large % of these bolts are common across all models.

I have gone through this post and I really hope I didn't blow by the correct answer - but is this the

"Fold down Wind shield knobs (2 8mm x 1.25 x 70 mm studs molded into knob w/40 mm shoulder. Knob is 50mm in diameter)"

Thanks for the help!!!

Windshield question.webp

OK as promised:

Bezel to Bib screws

4 6mm x 1.0 x 25mm long with metric #2 phillips head. Flat washer. Use with rubber spacers. Spacers are .560 L x .490 D with .235 inner diameter to fit over a 6mm bolt. Sections of 1/4 fuel line work great for these.

Distributor Hold Down Bolt 2F

1 8mm x 1.25 x 15mm 12mm hex head. Split washer.

I don't need mostly that nuts and bolts as i usually have the portable things to use and there is much less use of nuts and bolts in it.

Juliya.
