My landcruiser does not have a condenser. It's not in the distributor or mounted on the side. I've been told that my year model doesn't have one, is this true or is it missing?
I'm not sure when the electronic ignition was first offered. Do you have points? If so, I'm not aware of a points distributor without a condensor. Take a look at this '75-'77 OEM points type distributor from City Racer: OEM 2F 3F Distributor for Land Cruiser FJ40 FJ60 FJ62 70 Series FJ80 - https://www.cityracerllc.com/products/oem-2f-3f-distributor-for-land-cruiser-fj40-70-series-fzj80?_pos=35&_sid=d752b344d&_ss=r&variant=30059394819

That's a condensor on the mount for the vacuum advance pod.

It sounds like he's describing the electronic ignition. Interestingly it's called a semi-transistorized ignition. I don't know where you are located and what your financial situation is, but if it were mine, I'd be inclined to buy the complete City Racer OEM distributor.

I'm thinking back to what I've done so far. When I replaced the coil i couldn't tell which side it hot and which side is negative. The left has a rubber boot on it so I assumed it was for the hot side. Is this wired correctly?

Holy crap. that frayed and melted blk wire with the yellow stripe is the ING wire. It looks like a lot of the strands are broken. I can't say that's the problem but it has to effect current flow.

I would be using a VOM and the wiring diagram to check wires and such for continuity. Disconnect the battery so you don't fry the meter. Just because you bought new parts doesn't mean they are good. Condenser help keep points from arcing/burning

Much easier to use the dark of night to see sparks/arcs off the ignition system than to feel for them with your hand

You might checkout the link below. He was having a similar problem and goes into some detail along with his diagnosis. It also sounds like you need new plug wires.
