We’ll I had no idea the cam had to come out in order to change the timing gear cover/back plate… a friend helped me change the front seal, and we tightened the bolts down a little bit. I’m running it. That front seat was completely hard, and had quite the leak.

On another note, I looked to buy the SST to hold the crank, couldn’t find one. I even called Toyota. Zero help. We ended up making the Tomahawk.

Valves adjusted. That’s a wrap for the night.

Edit: can’t forget the custom seal installer. A shop-vac attachment cut to size.

Love the tomahawk. Mine is dubbed “The angry pigeon”.

We’ll this little sensor wire broke off the dongle under the oil filter. I couldn’t figure out how to remove the connection. I ended up soldering the wire in there. I think it’s good?

We’ll see…

Calling 3FE gurus. Where the hell does this vacuum line go to?? The one with my finger on it. It’s the largest one coming off the air box.

I can’t seem to find an open line to attach it to.

Edit:
After going through the FSM, I couldn’t find dick squat. I started looking up a vacuum diagram on Mud, I found another chaps post, looks like the vacuum line in question goes to the distributor. I’ll confirm tomorrow.

Double edit:
Yep, it was off the distributor.

I'm guessing he's not a fan of silicone hose, or the chebby orange
It’s Sangria Sunrise. I went all out. I changed all the fuel and trans lines to silicone. Red for the fuel, blue for the trans.

I looked for some color changing LED’s to put in the engine bay, but I couldn’t find cheap enough ones on Temu.

I’m going to have better gas mileage after shedding 9lbs of built up oil and crud. Need to finish up plumbing the trans oil cooler/aux fan, and screw on filter. Once that’s done all that will be left is wait for my radiator to show up.

I feel your pain. Had a similar thing happen to us on a two hour drive back from my mom's. We took the LC out because I'd been working real hard on it, and thought it was finally road worthy. Then on the way back at night, BOOM, the top radiator hose literally exploded. Ended up doing all new hoses, new water pump and thermostat, and a new head gasket.
Sounds like your head gasket went bad too. You'll get it fixed, and it will all be a bad memory you can laugh at in the future.
In Germany we would say "hold your ears stiff" (Halt Die Ohren Steif) but some how that doesn't translate well into English 😄. I guess the closest English phrase would be "keep your chin up."
