Normal Operating Temp?

I wouldn't do a radiator just yet, most likely it is tyhe fan clutch. Go to Amazon and order a new one, $80 for the AISIN, $50 for a Hayden with lifetime warranty.
Thermostat is easy, takes like 15min. Again, Amazon, gasket too if it's not included.

Last weekend running in the sand dunes, upper 80's low 90's for temps, drag racing for half hour straight, climbing dunes, getting stuck, a/c on of course, and my truck never got over 200.
Cool. Radiator need to come out to do the fan clutch anyway? I'm looking for a how-to for both right now... this is one of those projects that can easily get out of control once you catch the "while you're in there" syndrome. Any tips appreciated.

I just got one of hose Heads up Display thing that plugs into my OBDII port, it shows my temp at 190 while cruising, stop and go traffic in 95F weather, it gets up to 194 and never goes over that. Not sure how accurate that thing is, i'm using Prestone green coolant from wal mart.

No, radiator stays in.

How accurate is it? Dead accurate. It is showing you the live data that the ECU is getting.

if I didn't say so already in your other thread. I ran at 206 religiously in the south. After radiator swap, down to 194 max with everything new. Radiator was my answer.

i researched further and found that the compressor is supposed to cut at 226f. my temp reads 220 when it does which means that I have something either reading incorrectly or the relay is tripping early.
regardless, I "kinda" remedied my problem by ultimately replacing my radiator. nothing else seemed to make a difference. wish I would have done that before replacing the fan clutch. especially due to cost and ease of install. I used a factory clutch and an aftermarket radiator.

FxFormat: What year LC are you running?

Interested as I run an OBDII w. torque app and don't believe I have coolant temp readout.
That's what I run, and there is a temp readout. It's either a stand alone option or on the widget with all the info. Think I run at 194, FWIW.

Using ODB Fusion on my phone I hit 221 this weekend while towing up a hill in 90 degree heat. Coolant flush is the only PM I haven't done yet. So doing that this week. My normal operating temp is about 180. Anyone watched their temp while towing?

Not while towing but while playing in the sand, no higher than 200 on a 90F day.
Big dunes, deep sand, high RPM and low speeds.

Via the ScanGauge II, my 06, runs 188-202, depending on load, wind, terrain etc. Generally 193-197 on the interstate and slightly higher around town.

I ruin pretty consistently at about 190 under normal operating conditions. I have a scangauge II and I do have the transmission temp programmed in. It certainly fluctuates way more than my operating temp. Tranny seems to run in the 170's unless heading up long grades and then it starts to climb. Have not towed.

Just tapped 225 on my sgII. 115deg our side sitting in drive through here in Vegas..... and the question pops in my head...... how hot is too hot...normal driving this summer since I got this 197-205 depending where I’m driving.

230 and you better be very worried. 250 is engine death.
Personally anything over 220 and I'm turning the a/c off.

Blast from the past here. Actually just had the truck serviced in preparation for HIH8 and asked them to look at the cooling system; no issues noted and in fact the shop (which I trust) felt strongly that the system was in good working order and had no issues. Still seeing temps run pretty consistently at 205 on the ultragauge.
