The first owner lived in Portland, had the truck dealer-serviced, and kept in heated garage. Totally stock. I purchased in 2013 and imported to BC. The following is what I have done do it:

Engine:
  • Swapped in 1HD-T from JDM donor
  • All applicable parts swapped from donor including fuel lines, fuel filter, 2nd battery tray, washer fluid bottle relocation, etc. A/C receiver/dryer relocated to JDM location.
  • Converted to 12 volt starter (now entire truck is 12 volts)
  • Large marine battery switch with NAPA AGM batteries
  • New big end bearings
  • New timing belt
  • Injection pump rebuilt (was leaking)
  • Injectors rebuilt
  • Rebuilt power steering pump
  • Rebuilt turbo
Driveline:
  • H151f 5-speed manual transmission from Australia
  • Marks part-time 4WD kit with heavy duty hubs
  • ABS sensor relocation kit (so ABS works in 2WD mode)
  • Front axle knuckles rebuilt with new bearings, seals, new wheel bearings
  • New front brake callipers and 100 series pads
Body:
  • Removed factory "roof racks," filled holes, and painted
  • Added 3 Thule gutter-mount bars
  • Removed fender flares, filled holes, and painted
  • Added factory flareless front mud flaps
  • Swapped JDM tailgate and spare-tire swing out
  • Swapped JDM "T O Y O T A" grill with "turbo" badge and lower bumper filler
  • 4x4labs rear bumper powder coated "silver vein" (see photo)
  • Cruisin' Offroad sliders powder coated "silver vein"
  • Homemade front bumper with 2" receiver, powder coated "silver vein" (see photo)
Interior:
  • Tan/oak interior, leather seats are in very good shape considering they are original -- no tears, but some stitching has come undone on the driver's seat recently. Could be repaired or replaced with new leather
  • Beige Husky Liners front and middle row
  • Beige Weather Tech cargo mat
  • 3rd row seats stored in my basement
  • Factory centre console and factory manual shifter (leather knob)
  • Added lots of "knock-off Dynamat" to doors and entire floor of truck as well as 1/4 thick rubber sound proofing on floor under carpet
Electronics:
  • Diesel tach swapped; red and green turbo boost lights work.
  • All factory gauges and electronics work with the swap, including cruise control
  • I have the factory locker switch, but the truck didn't come with lockers. Was planning to get ARB one day.
  • Auber green digital boost and EGT (pre-turbo) gauges
  • JVC Bluetooth double-DIN deck (non-touch-screen) set to green to match dash
  • Blaupunkt neodymium magnet speakers in factory locations. They have amazing bass for their size.
  • Factory centre diff lock switch activates 4WD
  • Has factory alarm system and keyless entry
  • Auto-up driver's window mod
Factory sub-tank:
  • Factory 50 litre tank, brackets, and "dual filler neck" from Australia
  • Generic 12 volt diesel transfer pump transfers to main tank until sub tank is empty
  • Factory dash switch to transfer fuel (light comes on while pumping -- takes about 15 minutes)
York on-board air system with 4 corner bags:
  • Homemade bracket moves A/C pump down and away from engine, York sandwiched in between (as far as I know, I am the only one to have installed a York and keep A/C!)
  • Aluminum SCBA bottle mounted along frame rail under driver's seat
  • Shop compressor switch in engine bay keeps tank at 90-120 PSI at all times (activates magnetic clutch on York)
  • Airlift 1000 bags inside all four springs (suspension height is stock with bags empty -- can pump up 2-3 inches depending on load)
  • Solenoids to control bags mounted in engine bay
  • Factory Toyota switches (seat heater switches from a Corolla and antenna up/down switch) control air bags with a digital Auber pressure gauge. (See photo.) Select which bag(s) you want to adjust, and go up or down; screen shows pressure of selected bag(s).

Wow that is a long list. I hope I haven't forgotten anything. After I write it all down, I don't really want to sell it :( But circumstances change and we have to adapt...

Reasons for selling:
  • Bought investment property -- need a pickup truck for renos
  • Third child born last summer -- need larger camper, possibly 5th wheel
Asking price:
  • 22k USD

Sorry, I've decided to keep it a while longer. Just can't bring myself to replace it with any of the domestic trucks I've looked at. They just can't compete with Land Cruiser quality. For renos I will stick with a utility trailer and for camping we might consider a small motorhome or a camper van in the future. Or just stick to fair weather tenting :hillbilly:
