Looks Good to me

From the rear, the 100 looks like the bottom was grafted on a relatively good looking SUV. End result sucked; this new one goes a lot further toward a coherent, flowing look of capability and integration. The front on the '08 is simpler in presentation - I have a 80 series and I like the 80's models I have seen which were marketed in Australia and S. America. I think this will be a classic and I also am surprised that Toyota is bothering to make one for the US market. I will seriously move toward getting one of these and seeing if it still can get me out of the mud puddles I end up in periodically. Pete

So can anyone say what running gear the highlander has in it ........transmission/transfer/front&rear diffs???

The Highlander is based on the Camry, with the same engines available, only it also has a full-time 4WD (No low range:frown:) feature. It has a hybrid model, also available with 4WD of sorts.

I think these pics of the '08 LC are somewhat stretched and make the truck appear lower and wider.

My sister-in-law just wants to know if the new LC will have heated, AND COOLED seats. They're kinda fun on the Avalon.:)

The first pic doesn't look bad but this angle...yuck.

I will say this concerning photos of cars..I was looking at a 100 series brochure and I must say that some of the pics of it were not at all flattering. So , that does give me hope concerning the 2008 model. Does anyone know when the LX is scheduled to be available ? I might be able to get some info since I have a relative who owns a Lexus dealership...Problem is the family has had some problems as of late....

I want to see it without the sticker package and I would like to know wheelbase, overall length and width. Does anyone have those meassurements? And is the US market getting the twin turbo diesel?

Same wheelbase
1" wider
4" longer (not good for wheeling)

I'm hoping due to wheelbase that a 100 suspension kit will fit on. ???

I think it looks awesome! The front is a huge improvement over the current LX 470. About the same to a LC.

If it drives well I'm down for the buy ASAP. And despite what some say about looks on the forum......I'll drive this up to a group of 100's and 80's and grin from door to door. (Just like I do now when I pull up for a difficult trail run in my 100 to a group of 80's)

LX580 baby! ALL THE WAY!

Yeah that's some brilliant logic there. Probably the same brain trust that came up with the new design.

True. But it's not the 1980's any more.

Tell Toyota that

Yuck. It seems to me that most car models are getting ugly and uglier since the turn of the century.

UGLY, it has such a fat rear end. Perfect for the mall parking lot I'm sure.:frown:

This is the "mall tech" thread right

Yes.

In 1991 it was mall tech for the new 80.

In 1998 it was mall tech for the new 100.

2007 it's the for the LX570.

Trouble is.....a few years after they come out they prove themselves to not be just mall cruisers and some folks have to eat their words.

Hmmm...tell me...

How would one go about installing aftermarket bumpers for serious off-roading on this puppy?

Ah.....has anybody seen one yet?

And ya......it looks like a challenge.

And ya......my guy could do it, just like he did my two 80's. He will eventualy do a 100 for me too.

To discount is

Piece of cake:

U know, with my attention to detail modifying it, the new LC looks nice to me now.
