U know, with my attention to detail modifying it, the new LC looks nice to me now.

Much better, but put a "combo" bumper on it. "Sahara" bars look like s***e (IMO) .

I'm a fan of the Saharas... Besides, only the one i made looks like s*** cuz its salvage :D

I may be opening myself up here but I was next to a 08 Highlander just the other day. It looked rather impressive all things considered. It looks beefier than its predecessor to say the least. Perhaps the end result for the 08 Land Cruiser in person will yield the same impressions.

You are pretty much spot on about the Highlander. For a Highlander it looks pretty good, I just don't want it to look like a 3/4 scale Land Cruiser. Some family resemblance (like a grill, etc..) between models is OK, but something as iconic as the Land Cruiser should have its own identity. When you see a Range Rover you don't confuse it with a Freelander. At least I don't. Land Rover has done a very good job ( IMO) in keeping the Range Rover very recognizable and true to its lineage of past models. Same thing as with a Corvette and the 911(except for the 996 series). When you see one you know right off what it is. Toyota will be making a huge mistake if they dilute the Land Cruiser's identity too much. I guess we'll just have to wait and see when they start hitting showroom floors.....

LOL So I was at it AGAIN! My MSPaint skills are developing! I wish I still had PSP. Anyway, I'm really loving the new styling. Its interesting when you spend time looking at the details, you fall in love with everything. It flows, but I wish they made the fenders with beefy flares instead of that puff crap.

I concur. I look for that in any thing I purchase. I don’t like cookie cutter products. Part of the vintage feeling I get from my 80 is a result it’s distinctive styling.

The product line, form of branding, is very prevalent and I would hate to see the Land Cruiser succumb.

yeah coilovers.
the torsion front was the one error on the 100 that Toyota never repeated again.

The 08 doesn't look 'beefier', it looks bloated. They just follow the trend of bigger, bigger bigger... well the 100 is big, but it balances size and offroad capability for a luxury suv.

This thing is just big. No matter what's under it, if it's too huge to fit on a trail, it's too huge. It reminds me of the Nissan Qboat, Escalade, Navigator and other huge suv's. It's not the euro-cool, premium suv size (Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Mercedes, BMW, TReg, Audi Q)

That's ok b/c they are not looking to make it appeal to offroaders. They have the FJ Cruiser and 4Runner for that.

good luck fitting real bumpers on that. those huge plastic facias are designed for ease of "reskinning" updated model years as well as an obvious cost cutting measure.

I illustrated how a front bumper would be mounted on the new LC. Just like the Nissan Frontiers.

nissan frontier has a 2 piece front bumper, which makes it easy. The 08 has a 1 piece that either has to be cut and finished or a huge replacement piece supplied.
but you are right, it does look like a bloated Frontier.

Main reason: I want the exact same killer T-bar ride quality the 100 has now.

Secondary: IF the underpinnings are the same I can lift ASAP when I buy that 2008.

... nuggets of gold, nuggets of gold...

Yes....this is gonna suck. Hopefully I can lift and tire up mine. I think my bumpers might remain stock for a long time!

The first reason makes no sense whatsoever. Why did manufacturers migrate from T-bars to coilovers?

The second reason makes no sense either, how can you just carryover a suspension to a vehicle with very different dynamics and weight?

1. Both have ad's and disad's. I'll stick with T-bars.

2. If the underpinning are the same I'm certain that 100 parts should work just fine (just like 80 parts and shocks work on 100's).

I pray for same underpinnings!

1. What are the pros and cons of each?
2. Working and working really well are 2 different things.

A lifted vehicle is compromised in some way. To lift 2.75 front and 3" rear and fit 35's (hopefully those bumpers won't mess that up) "well" is good enough.

Lots of threads about T-bars and CO's.

LOL
yeah t bars are so awesome. the huge aftermarket t bar selection is awesome. when people do buildups (cars or trucks) they never use coilovers.

it's a coilover front/sra.
