Hi All,

Just joining up with a view to getting the odd hint about my 1999 Amazon V8 VX.

For starters, can anyone help me identify this device (see attached photos) - I found it glued to the inside-facing wall of the rectangular cubby hole which sits directly below the original radio/cassette/cd changer.

The grey lead goes downwards from there, possibly to go under the central console where the gear lever and handbrake are situated.

I purchased the car second hand in the early 2000's and have no idea whether this may have been previously attached to some kit that was removed before the sale to me.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the prompt response frawstme, but the radio unit already has a socket in the back for the antenna...? The holes at the end of the device make it look like some sort of microphone or sensor?

My stock head unit has 2 connections for a diversity antenna, but they are both coaxial. Your cable looks coaxial on its grey portion but then splits into 2 leads.

When I replaced the stock head unit with a modern one, there was only one connection. The tech at Crutchfield said that modern radios have digital processing that obsoletes the need for 2 antennas.
