My first 55 just came in from California. I've got some questions about what vacuum lines are supposed to be hooked up, what can be unhooked, and how the heater lines get hooked back up. I did numerous searches and couldn't find any clear enough pics to tell where the lines go. Attached is a pic of the new pig. 092709pig.webp

red heater hose that loops up over the top of the valve cover goes to the valve right on the firewall, cut the red hose and attach one end to each end of the valve.

but it is disconnected so you may have a leak in the heater core????

ok, but what attaches to the two lines directly below that valve on the firewall. Does it get fed off of the plugged off spot on the thermostat housing?

the pipe the runs parrallel with the head that the red hose is attached to, where does the other end go? is it capped? hard to tell in the pic.

Mine is a '74. The steel tube runs along the head from the back red hose and connects to the red hose you can just see in the front. From there, it drops down and connects to the bottom radiator hose. Just not quite sure how to feed the valve on the firewall, catch the two lines stubbed out of the firewall below it, and where the plugged off port goes ontop of the thermostat housing. Thanks for your help.

you must have a rear heater?

cut the red hose, attach to one of the lower lines, get another piece of hose and attach between the other lower line and the valve, attach the original cut red hose to other end of valve.
you need to make a one way loop.

the capped off on the thermostat, just a guess, that a PO couldn't find the correct one and just got a later edition which has the extra outlet.

which one is the PCV valve, short stubby one on the removable side cover? Shortly after taking that pic, I hooked that one up to the inlet on the bottom of the carb base. Everything was unhooked on this thing when I got it, heaters, vacuum lines, charcoal canister is gone, and air rail has been plugged. I'm not quite sure what they are, but on the bottom side of the thermostat housing there are 2 different valves?? each with 2 vacuum connections on them. What are these and are they important? I'm in Ohio so there are no pollution/smog items to worry about.

Thanks for everyones help in getting this back on the road.
