Merry christmas to you if that works out!!!!! that rig has been teasin me for a while, bring her back home for us. it even seemed to fix itself! best of luck. and be safe on that drive.

Thanks jfz80. I have a co-pilot who will be traveling with me. We have dedicated 3 full days plus a partial day to the drive south but the hope is to make it in 2.5 days. We only plan to drive 8 hours a day and are going to keep the speed down. I know its still crazy but I need an adventure.

I already have plans lined up to fix the rust. I'm not worried about making this a show piece but am going to stop the rust so she will last much longer.

Once I get her back to SC I need to join the club...

This one?

Thats Todds old 55 isn't it?

You mean UC will finally have a pig that goes to events? And with Richard and me close to having our 55's road worthy this might be a good year for UC and 55's.

Yes Marshall - that would be her and it is Todd's old rig. I was going to have her shipped down but that idea didn't sit too well with me. I already have some basic mods planned but these are mostly cosmetic/comfort related. I like her well enough as she sits for the trail.

Weren't you last working on the T-case on your 55?

Yeah T-case is done. Brake are as done as I can get them. Only thing left is to put the gas tank in and replace hoses and oil pan gasket it she will be road worthy. Until something breaks.

Lets not jinx it Marshall we have come to far. We need a good dose of Davids cruiser karma to protect us.

As for mods that thing is pretty ridiculous as I recall and shouldnt need any mods, except maybe AC, its a trail beast though.

mods

I'm not planning on installing AC. It is just one more thing to break.

My planned mods are to fix the rust decently (fenders, wheel wells, door jamb, and roof mainly) by cutting out the rust and welding in new metal, install front bucket seats and console, and I want to fabricate some type of replacement rear fender well lip. The rear quarter panels need some attention also. So, mainly comfort and cosmetics but the rust eradication could be considered structural.

Got you man, sounds good. I have a plan for some buckets and a custom fabbed console sometime in the future. Got to find the right seats though. Got to finish off the cage on the inside though so I dont mess up the seats doing any welding, painting, etc before that though.

I think I sniffed too much 90 wt...

So, the wheels have been put into motion (that was a very bad joke.) I looked into shipping the Beast from MI to SC and didn't like that idea so I got an even better idea...why not drive the Beast from MI to SC??? That doesn't sound totally idiotic does it? Well, I had a short lapse of judgement and now I am flying to Michigan Jan 27 and will be driving the Beast down to SC over the course of 2 and a half days. I did sucker in a co-worker to be by co-pilot on the drive down. I have packed a tool bag, warm clothes, and ear plugs. I am thinking about taking my laptop to post updates and/or distress calls along the way. I plan to take it slow and am crossing my fingers that I don't break down.

So, grab your  and have some  ready for me when I arrive in SC.

I do stupid things sometime...at least I'll have stories to tell later in life. Wish me luck!
