New years day run....

Not exactly a lot of notice. I admittedly have slacked on this one. I ve been busy with family and have been working thought the various stages trying to start my own little business. Not to mention my truck is kind of broken, and un insured. That said I'd be happy to tag along if anyone wants to go but I will be rocking "ride along" status at best.

I have volunteered for the duty crew (aka sober crew) at the fire hall so at least I won't have a hangover come new years day.

In the past we have had good results with this annual run but this year might be different. I know the Dingo's and Wombats are under the weather and I have explained my situation..... Anyone else?

I know Ryan will be devastated if we dont go wheeling in the snow as its his favourite thing to do. Snow runs of late have given him the opportunity to test the holding capacity of his Xmas underwear. :D

Utterly gutted...

Not this year for me, just got back from a couple days in Ukee with crazy greeks smashing plates, after several days of ridiculous amounts of food.

kinda looking forward to a day of staying the f home...maybe going on a new years RUN.:crybaby:

On another note, due to the cancellation of some fickle mainlanders we have 2 extra tickets for david gogo at the crofton hotel tonight...

He puts on a pretty good show...dude knows which end of the guitar is which.

We'll see if we can't flog them at the door or something if no one pipes up.
$20 bucks a pop.

the snow will be up there for a while - maybe plan a snow run on some Sat latter this month when we can get a few rigs out for a run

Men,
First, happy new year from the east coast. 2nd, No new years day run?! I really miss that tradition.
I am always a little sad this time of year ever since I left the Island. All I can say is don't take what you all have there on the island for granted. I now have to drive 3+ hours and pay to go wheeling and the scenery is nothing like on VI.
We miss the island and the comraderee of the club.
The Stumps wish you all a happy new year and are planning to visit sometime this spring/summer/fall.
Cheers,
Stump

Happy new year Stump. I think this is the first one i have missed in years but just wasn't up for it this year plus no ins. on the 40 plus it would take me 2 hours to get it road worthy. It will be nice to spend n/y day with family for a change. I agree with Glen that we should make it a snow run the 2nd or 3rd sat of jan so everyone can make it so lets throw a date out there like how bout jan 19th???

Happy New Year Stumps.

Ya this is the first New years day run I missed as well. No worries though, we'll make up for it later in the year.

So very tempting. My skinnies seem to work very well in the snow. I should see if I can talk the wife into letting me get out...

Never seen skinnies work well in snow. Hope you can make it.:hillbilly:

They probably only work well to a certain depth of snow. In my case they are good up to 12-18". I think they work well to this point because they cut down easily to better traction. I played around a bunch with it in the interior at Christmas and had zero problems in the snow.

For seriously deep snow, the bigger the tire the better as flotation would be the aim I suppose. Love the 80's they put together in Iceland.

Agreed. It'd be great to see you again man!

Hey Andrew, thanks. Would be nice to see you again too. Heh, we need a Vancouver Island Cruisers 'wheeling daycare' :steer: . Would be easier to sell the wife on stuff like this if she wasn't stuck with the kids all day.

TOTALLY! Nathaniel and Cam would probably have more wheeling time too.
