New TRE's all on, drivway alignment done. Slop is MUCH much less now.
horn in and works great
shocks on an dfit great, the dside just misses the steering relay rod.
all bare metal and rust painted (love that krylon camo green)
transmission drained and refilled

The old gear oil that came out of the tcase & trans was ug-leee.

Tcase drianed and ebrake job started. Found out disconnecting just the front of the driveshaft didn't give utie enough compression to drop it down so I need to disconnect the back as well. Problem was the bolts were stuck. I soaked them in liquid wrench and will hopefully get them off tonight and do the ebrake.

Then I'm ready for the minor exhaust fix and inspection. Hoping the TRE's won't be an issue (they just barely miss the inner wheel lip.

Need to put in the trannyhump gasket and hardware still as well. Ta should button it up nicely and with any luck keep the fumes, dirt, cold air and some noise out of the cabin.

Once inspected, I will want to drain and refill both diffs, do a complete oil change, maybe new plugs, and wirewheel the drip rail and repaint, but none of that needs to be done for inspection so it can wait until next week

A lot of late nights the last few weeks but the truck is at teh garage this morning to finish the exhaust and get inspected. Fingers crossed.

I'm planning on having them fix whatever keeps it from passing inspection (unless it's wildly cost prohibitive). Also asked them to do an oil change and see if they can adjust my carb (Edi on a 350) so that I'm not getting fumed out. We'll see.....

So it turns out that VT wants you to have cats.... no exceptions, even for old vehicles tht never had them.

So I need to go ahead and have the exhaust redone, which I had planed to do, and need to do as it's hung badly and very poorly routed. I'm bummed but that's that, if I had finished the truck earlier this wouldn't be a problem but I didn't so that's that.

They recommended a custom exhaust place in Claremont so I'll get it to them next week and get it all redone right and be good. This will give me time to deal with a few other little issues and tuneup stuff as well.

:( {sigh}

That is funny. In CO, they discourage you from putting cat's on older vehicles because they were not equipped w/ heat sheilds to deal with the heat a cat puts out...

Picked up my truck today, the exhaust came out nice. Morningside Auto in Charlestown, NH did a nice job. Reused one of my Gibson mufflers, did everything just like I asked.

Crossover from the pside manifold, 1 pipe running down the dside up high and out of the way. Exits behind the spring hanger, no more ridiculous chrome tips poking out the back.

Nice not to have raw exhaust coming up through the firewall (the old pipes weren't connected to the manifolds tightly).

Sound good still, mellow but still has that V8 growl. It cured most of my random banging but I need to dig around the body mounts under the driver's feet, something is loose down there and I need to figure out what it is.

Otherwise she drove well. Lights and wipers worked when I needed them. The bench seat won't cut it for long... I thought I liked it... I don't. :)

I'll get pics tomorrow if it stops raining.

Will spend the weekend dealing with the ebrake, chasing that loose "whatever" and adjusting my brake booster.
