Great advice. I will go check the sticker!

Cheers.

I shipped a tranny and t-case with these folks

Nationwide Engine Freight Service

I think it was only $150. All I did was grab a pallet from a store, put them on, and strapped them down. They sent out a truck w/ a lift gate and a pallet jack, guy put the pallet on the jack, jack on the liftgate, lifted it up, and it was gone....

Most shippers don't like dealing with residential pick up and lift gates. I'd guess Eric's closest terminal is over in Boise. He's a stand up guy, now, his brother, he's kinda different...

Yo! Walking eagle. Your brother just set me up with a tranny and transfer case and is driving it down to Proffitt's today! ????? Waaaaa you say????? Yep, from Proffitt's it is going to be tied down in the back of a 60' that they are doing a diesel conversion on, that in a couple weeks will be tied to a car transfport hauler and head to Kansas City.

I know what you are thinking..... where does Kevin Bacon come into the equation? The answer is that music you hear in the background. "gonna cut loose, footloose"

Yeah, crazy little world we MUD members live in.... Thanks to Erik for putting the pieces together, and Eric for working late last night pulling the tranny/transfer out.

Cheers!

hmmmm

I am trying to figure out if you are the pimp daddy or the pusher? :grinpimp: The way I see it, you helped market the 80's, make them look super cool, talk me into buying one and getting hooked on the sweet candy, then when that "high" goes away, can set me up with a "fix" for a little green.

:hhmm:

Hmmmmm... Nice system you got worked out!

Seriously though, thanks for all your and your families help. I keep re-reading your lift email and I think that I am going with an OME setup. If you knew that someday this frame may be sitting below a 45.5, would that change what I buy now?

I'm still laughing that it all worked out and how small a world it is.. I'll continue to laugh until we gotta pop that thing out of a wagon and into kelly's truck..

Focus on the important things....

We have a BEER fridge in the garage now.

All is right with the world.

Driving this am on 435. Car started to do what I will call the death shake. Vibration started about 55 mph, and did not stop until I was under 40. It did not feel like the steering wheel was doing it. I put it in neutral, and revved the engine, with no change to the shaking. So, tranny, transfer or dif?

My 60 did that a few months back and I found my front wheel bearings were loose. Steering wheel didn't move.

That does not sound like the transmissions problems I have encountered. They usually involve slipping and loss of power. Need more info but could be drive shaft. If you cant feel the front end moving through the steering wheel then its most likely not tie rod or front end. Were you able to recreate it or was it just one time.

Drive shaft balance? Dont' know as though I understand the shake, just know I had a nasty one when I hit my d.s. and knocked it out of balance.

Ok, so you think I should pull off the driveshaft and go for high speeds again? I would expect the driveshaft balance to be something that increased progressively as I accelerate. This did not. It just started at about 65mph, and got violent -- well violent for me. I drove again later up to 55 mph with nothing. Perfectly smooth.

The front wheel bearings make sense to me. I already called Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters for a rebuild kit anyway.

Question: Does the SST for the 40's front axle (the Erik has) also work for the 80 series? The one that centers the axle and helps the shim thicknesses?

I can believe wheel beerings if you didntfeel it in the steering wheel. Drive shaft will get violent at a certain speed
