Hi all.. I'm new to the site, have used it for reference alot and thought I'd sign up. I'm sure I'll be chatting with many of you over the coming months as I begin my latest project. It's quite unique, an original Australian Army HJ47! These are very scarce now and the plus side is it has only 130000km on the clock! Body is straight and rust free, just needing a tidy and we're away.

I look forward to meeting you!

Very cool
so will a troopy roof bolt on to it or has it been modded bit to much for that

no, it has side pieces and a rear section that bolt onto the existing tub. If you removed these, no probs. I think it will come up real nice with new paint and black canvas roof.

Yea mate for sure
new paint set of fat treads and canopy will look good , having all the back seats is a bonus

Black?! mate, you'll cook in this climate. lol

if you are looking to remove ANY of the military gear, i know a bloke who would be interested. top bloke and a collector, my extra parts went to a good home:D

cheers

Dude .... Nice score! I love the look without the roof :D

What's behind the vented hatch below the fuel filler?

Welcome to MUD mate. Where abouts in Aus are you located?

Yeah, that's impossible to get. You will be better off sourcing a hard top from a junk yard & just selling that ratty old frame to me. :)
But seriously, I don't know of anyone in western Australia, but OCD beeetle here in the USA makes the best soft tops out there. He has/is making one for CrustyBJ60's Troopie & he is aware of the extra rail on Norforce trucks, so I think he could make one easily for you.
The package would be too small to be worthwhile to ship by ocean (size minimums), but it might be heavy enough to save money by going via air freight, rather than courier. I work in Intl. Logistics, & move product into Sydney for Shimano Australia all the time, so i have a good contat for an importer/forwarder there. I'm sure they have an agent/office in the west as well. So if you want to try that route I would be willing to try & help you out with advice & connections.
Or again, just sell it to me & forget about all the headaches!
Best,
Abe

Welcome to mud mate.
Nice score. I found one of those cruisers sitting in a paddock a few years back had been put on it,s side so was pretty banged up. I ended up pirating it for some parts for my ute. Still kicking myself i didn't drag the whole thing home, but didn't know what i had stumbled upon back then. I've got a pic of it here somewhere. I'll see if i can find it and post it up.

Edit: Found it. From memory it was an 84 hj47. I should really go and see if it's still there i've fixed worse than this since

Can see the front a bit more in this pic. Still had all the Army gear on it.

Was a good day that day. came home with a van load of parts and all it cost was a carton of beer and $15

I'll try OCD Beetle. I've seen his work on here and they look awesome.

If the RFSU Troopies were set up anything like the ADF Landrovers, then that hideyhole is for the radio batteries. Make a great expedition rig once you get some canvas for it.

Welcome to Mud.

BTW: If you want to give her a respray in green, Protec Paints sells the correct ADF "Camouflage Green" (read: olive drab) paint direct to the public - at trade prices, in rattle cans or tins. http://www.protec.com.au/contact/w1/i1001190/

Oh yeah - almost forgot. If you want the original camouflage canopy fabric, send me a PM and I'll give you the supplier's details.
