To slide, or not to slide. To step, or not to step....

Great thread. Answering nearly all my questions about sliders w step, etc, etc. So I think this is the best place for my post...
as I have three additional Q about the Slee sliders:
1
For my 2001 HDJ-100 w AHC, I suppose I have to get the model for LX-470, in order to fit in between all the AHC stuff mounted along the frame. Will it fit?
2
Can someone provide pix, particularly from the underside, of sliders mounted on an AHC equipped rig? (the left side (DS) is the most densely populated)
3
Any info on shipping to this side of the puddle?

@uHu

I've emailed Slee earlier and asked the same questions for my AHC V8 100. The answer was basically:

1- Have to get the LX version
3- Provide nearest airport so they can provide a quote

I can't help you on number 2, but if I ever get them installed I'll snap some pics for you.

I plan on ordering the full african outback rack from slee but I have garage door issues. Could you please measure the height of your rack from the LC roof to upper edge the top rail; the measurement would be greatly appreciated thanks wayne

Pimp, is that a Slee/African mounting rail/bracket that attaches to the stock bolt holes?

uHu,

Here are pics of my LX sliders (2 of the DS, 1 of the PS). Note there are 2 outriggers per slider. The LC version has 3 outriggers per slider. I have not asked Christo whether these sliders can be used as a jacking point or not.

I'm pretty sure Christo beefed the outriggers up to make up for the shift from 3 to 2. It's a pretty tight, but well tailored fit. I'll jack up the LX w/ my hi-lift if I can find time this week. I have no doubt they'll support the vehicle if needed.

It would be a good test to see if they support the weight of the vehicle... I'm fairly sure they will.

I would periodically check them for a tight fit too.

I'm curious to learn about this as well. Anybody care to give it a try?

Yes, I do not see why it would not. Have not tried it but I know that on the LX I have dropped it on the sliders a couple of times. Obviously 3 legs are better, just did not see how to do it on the LX>

Thanks, Christo--the sliders themselves are first rate. Thanks a bunch. I was just wondering about the strength of the U-bolt fasteners--with the 16" lever (outrigger) on them. If just one U-bolt failed while the vehicle was being jacked up... :frown:

yeah, a track replaces the OEM rack rails, bolts to the stock holes.

Tnx hoser.
They look great. Gonna compare the pix with my underbody.

What about 3 on PS, while still accepting 2 on DS?
Theory: if 3 is better than 2, then lets have 3 where poss.

Alternative: move around som AHC stuff to fit in 3 legs on both.

Whadayathink?

The AHC Stuff is on both side on the LX. Not sure on yours.

Move the AHC stuff around, not a good idea. Lots of hard lines etc.

I have a buddy with a set on his truck. I will ask him to jack it up on that and check.:D However pretty sure the U bolts are not going to fail.

I have to chime in on Pimp's comments. Pictures just don't do Christo's products justice. The quality of these sliders are fantastic. I come from a Rover background and have bought bumpers, sliders, etc. from several companies like Safari-Gard and Rovertym and they just pale in comparison to Slee's.

Better than Safari Gard isn't saying much (on some items, especially their sliders), but better than Rovertym says a lot. All the stuff from Rovertym that I've seen or owned (I owned a '95 Discovery previously) has been very well built. Safari Gard stuff seems to depend more on what day of the week it was built and some of their stuff just plain sucks (or did as of a few years ago).
