Factory Front Mudflaps

Do you know if the factory front flaps would fit w/ these sliders. They look great btw.

not sure, I would guess not however, but for the same style steps on a 80, Slee says you can you them.......I think

yes it does, I knew that(from other racks) but you can only hear it with the sunroof open, its not bad, but it does make noise, less then my Wilderness on my 80 though. I am gonna take the full rail off and put a 1/2 rail on the back, leaving the front flat, this will work better for my use and it might cut down on noise(but not doing it for that)

I'll try to snap some action pics of the hatch (now where is my BMG?)

A quick question on your Sahara... Do they now come powder coated in light gray? When I purchased mine for a few year ago, they came in a dark grey.

I bought it used for $400, the PO must have powdercaoted it light gray, they did a great job(must have taking it all apart and its holding up KILLER.

and for those that don't like the gray..........2 things, 1.......I paid $400, 2.....it reminds me of a stock fj40 bumper.....so

I was on vacation last week, but had a voicmail waiting on me this morning that my Slee step sliders and OME suspension are waiting on me to pick them up at the shipping company. Your pics have me all worked up; kind of a preview for what mine will look like soon.

I will get them painted this week and install them next weekend. I'll post pics once their on the 100.

Any plan of adding lights to the rack?

I might do a rear bumper but with no tire carrier, I am in/out of the rear of the LC all day long, tire carrier would drive me nuts.

I agree. I love the look of the Slee rear bumper, but don't want to deal with the tire carrier all the time. I will probably go the same route. I'm still thinking of adding a spare tire skid plate that covers the spare and attachs to the rear bumper. I just have to get the bumper before I build the skid plate.

Looks great! A few points:

1.) The Sahara bar (only) comes powder coated gray. All other bars are black.

2.) I'm not sure but I think it would be fairly easy to remove the tire carrier when you weren't using it. That was going to be my plan. I know on the Kaymar it's just one bolt, lift it off. I was planning on keeping the spare under the truck for daily use, then just bolting up the tire/can carriers when going on a trip.

3.) 80 flaps fit but you have to cut out a slot for the slider to poke through. I bought the flaps for the 100 and am going to try it, though it may not work.

I talked to Christo, he said it isn't difficult to remove the tire carrier but you wouldn't want to do it too often since you have to remove the license plate and light wiring as well.

I don't really see a lot of advantage to the rear tire carrier while running a 33" tire. It will fit underneath just fine. The only thing that would be kind of nice is a spot for the highlift jack. But, that can easily be mounted to the roof rack. The hassle of opening and closing the tire carrier isn't worth it to me. I agree with Pimp, as much as I access the rear door, it would drive me crazy having a tire carrier.

Also, it's a pain to get it out when, say, the entire rear end is sunk in a pool of mud and you have to change a flat.

That's why I'll be covering my spare with a skid plate.

You should pull the vehicle to a stable place before you change the tire no matter where the spare is located. And, honestly, how often does that happen? I would rather deal with getting the spare out once in a while, versus the constant hassle of a spare tire carrier in the way.

Sorry, I didn't mean to start a debate over this; I was just agreeing with Pimp's comments earlier. That's the great thing about Slee though, they offer their rear bumper in both configurations (or will be soon) so that we can all get what we want. In either configuration I sure love that bumper it is really nice.

This might have already been asked but how is towing affected by the slee bumper if at all? It doesn't mention anything on the website.

Keeping the spare underneath is still a big drag on departure angle. Also, you can't add a second gas tank unless you use the small OEM one.

Anyway, with Slee (and others like Kaymar and TJM) having a quick facility for removing the tire carrier when using the truck for daily driving, I don't see why you can't have the best of both worlds.
