Somewhere in another thread I gave your truck credit for having more power, the 3FE's w/ stock gearing just like dream a little.

A One hour job turned into a 2 day event when we began working on putting in my new rear locker. Thanks to Dan Kunz I bought his 80 a few weeks ago. (Perfect condition)
As the sun was going down Al and I had a hard time getting the left axle to push in far enough to drop the C clip. Something in the drum brake was getting hung up with the axle. The next day we took the drum brake half way off, banged on it a few times and the C clip finally came off.

This was my first mod and my first time working on anything...
Thanks Al ;) can't wait to wheel this at Alpha Pit!!
(bottom picture was just messing around at a local retardedly easy spot )

When you get a chance-pull er off again at the drum-take a gander at the e-brake cable and its home under the flange. That cable could be off of the guide and the guide could be pushing against the flange. When I did a run through of my rig after purchase-this was the case and the flange was grinding the cable guide. just an FYI as your issue sounds superficially similar.

Hey Dan ... did you drive through some deep water? Everytime I drive anywhere I hear water under me? I'm goin to drill a hole in the rocker tomarrow... did you ever notice this?

Don't go a drillin. Park her at a downward angle and pull the plastic hole caps off under the front half of the front doors on the underside of the rocker (does that make sense?) That pbly your culprit-no holes needed, please! If its dry for an extended period, I'll drive around with these off for a while to dry things out in there.

this happens every once in a while-I believe it is a result of an averagely common leakage at the rear sliding windows (what says the list?) I think there is a write-up on this in either the 8mud tech or Slee's tech.

That is all correct.

Heavy rains used put water in my rocker and quarter panels. You'll know when they are in your quarters because your rear windows will fog up when not in the vehicle. I sealed all the holes under the sliding windows with caulking and that no longer leaks. I originally popped the stoppers from the quarters and have actually never replaced them as I never plan on sitting in water long enough for those holes to fill the vehicle up (I've crossed the rivers at Tellico and GrayRock this way with no problems).

I have not done that, duley added to my "list." I think when I pass on, my children will still not reach the end of my LC to do list.

I never noticed water noises and I always popped the rubber to drain the quarter panels the few times I have gotten into it.

If it is in front you may want to check the moonroof? Could have gotten a clog or something in the drain line?

Thanks for the input, don't worry there no way in hell i would start putting random holes in my new truck, without looking for plugs fiirst. I think it was all rain water, We took the plugs out and there was a lot that came out.
Thanks again tho!
