Brought it home yesterday, it's a 1971 with a big old 6BT 5.9 Cummins in it.

I'll be doing some work on it and you can check out the project thread here:

Hey way to go!!! Very nice score indeed....more pics too please!

6BT is within a 150lbs of the stock I6. If you don't have a heavy bumper and winch it would be about the same. I thought very hard about the 4BTA in a 55, I think it would be cool.

Ryan

Take a pic of the eng compartment please. It must be Nose heavy.

Hello again, my fixin' thread is still goin (very slowly) here:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/464909-fj-55-rescue-help-needed.html

but I need some help finding a handle for the tailgate on my 1971 FJ-55. The handle is broken off and Toyota says I'm out of luck. Do any of you happen to have one in a drawer someplace? Know where I can find one? Thanks in advance!
Someone might have an extra laying around. Otherwise I've ordered them from SOR and cruiserparts.net...always used, but perfectly fine.

I know that I'm a jerk for not updating, but my camera is still busted and I've been busy, sorry :(

I ended up making that rear handle with some steel scraps and it turned out really nice.

Now I need some help: I need the rubber channel strips that sit inside the metal tracks inside the tailgate for the window to slide down into. Is there some generic stuff that will work? Do I have to order from SOR? I couldn't figure out for sure which thing to order from their site.

It's just missing and causing the window to get all crooked. Also it is pissing me off.

I really appreciate the help guys!
