Hello I have recently purchased a 74 fj55!!
I have it up and running but having some issues with power and speed.
I can get it up to around 55-60 but on any incline it drops down to around 40-45.
I am thinking about throwing my v6 engine in it from my 90 sr5 toyota, any thoughts?!?
Has anyone else done that before??
Thanks in advance!!
Brandon

Welcome aboard Brandon.

I've never seen a V6 swap, personally, but that doesn't mean you can't do it. Check with Advanced Adapters. Are you planning to put the transmission from the V6 in also? Not sure you will gain much.

Think the V6 has already been ruled out.

Post up pics of the engine bay if you would like the pros to point out PO handiwork that could be potentially preventing efficient, or offer input on prioritizing preventative maintenance.

For the record, I ain't professing to be one of them....

When I'm back at laptop, will generate a new link to the F FSM PDF and post or message.

Hi Brandon
Welcome to the sty.
Be sure you will spend much time to discover issues, and your brain activity will be focused on your piggie, but it is a great satisfaction to progress to your goal.

Brandon, you will get involved more than you think.:):pig:

Thanks Bob.
I can say for certainty that is true. I'm 75% done on my power steering swap and starting my power disc brakes right away.
Just stay up on taking your significant other out for Saturday breakfasts and keep the kitchen sink free of dirty dishes.... You should be able to obsess over your piggy the remaining time.

Congrats!

Pigs are a lot of work. Engine swaps are a lot of work. Starting an engine swap before you understand how much work Pigs are sometimes results in classifieds threads for an unfinished project that nobody will touch...

I'd get what you have working well, and then contemplate a swap.
