I agree w/ Dandon & I could have potentially boutght a Diesel, it is just that for an equivalent Vehicle in Europe the dollar cost difference is very wide. I imported a US gas to Europe because an equivalent vehicle here was 50-70% more expensive. (FX at the time was close to 1.6) This seems to be a project of passion for Diesel..... have fun. You could even make a profit if you find an equally passionate diesel fan...

I would have never done this if the truck wasn't wrecked, thus alot cheaper. Diesel in Europe are just double to triple the price of any gas LC100 in the US.

hmm, looks like it has the pwr seat memory like and LX, has the manual adjust for headlight and not sure what those top 2 switches are for... idle up and something else?? They replace the rear vent window controls, so maybe those are manual as well??

Up date, it took longer to get the wood crate, because it had to be treated for oversea shipping, but hopefully next week it should be on the container.

The only issues he would run into are parts for his hd engine. No toyota dealers around here or in canada can order parts for the LC diesels, as far as I know. Maybe if you have a really good dealer, they'll order the part from Toyota Japan and have it shipped to you. All other parts can be interchanged between the LX and the LC. (other than the tail and head lights obviously)

Yes they will, I have had no issues ordering parts for my 1HDT so far. But, they need a part number, and will not look it up, because they can't (Toyota North America's database will not list it) .
A lot of the common parts, filters etc, are commonly used on various Toyota applications, and other various diesels like Yanmar.

The two top switches referred to are Rear Fog and Power Heater. The Power Heater is shown in the center of the very first picture in this thread, with the two coolant pipes attached to it.

Wow, crazy but wonderful project; I'll be following this!

Container should be at the docks mai 10th, last week we worked out the paper work with our broker (hopefully it is all ok now). With unloading and local delivery i'm not expectin it until third or last week of may at my shop!

Get yourself an oil filter (9091530002) and many other bits from
Toyota Parts Cheap.com
if you can't get them from up there.

One more question, seeing alot of AHC thread i'm wondering if i should go through this trouble and get it swap? am i going to go crazy buying the fluid and trying to get it working, or should i just go ahead and order a OME...?

If i don't want to spend the $ right away i could keep the UZJ suspension, its not like i need the truck to go wheeling...

I'd go ahead and get a new suspension (shocks, torsion bars, springs) and call it a day. If your doing all this work and putting forth all this money to make it right, why cheap out on one of the most important aspects of a vehicle? That's like saying I have bald tires and I'm getting new rims, should I replace my tires?

AHC is a personal preference, if it was working before and you have time to play, fluid is not that expensive. However, if you transfer it all over and can't get it working or find it needs expensive repairs, you have wasted a lot of time only, it comes down to your preference and your value of time versus money.
If you do order OME or other torsion bars/springs, you may need to put a special order in through a US supplier and get a set of bars sent in their next container load to suit a 1HD-FTE, as they may be different, and different left to right due to fuel tank/sub tank other variants.

I think the petrol TB's are 20MM shorter than the diesel too. I forgot to mention it. But is he using the 1HD front end, or the 2UZ-FE front end? I'm lost in what parts and ends he is using...

I think he is using a North American UZJ100 chassis and body, which could be a problem in regards to the front suspension. Like you said, I think the HDJ100 and UZJ100 have different t-bars mounts or something

The receiver will be a NA UZJ100. Unless there are difference in the frame rails, i should be ok since i have the front half of the HDJ

FINALLY, after almost 6 months, the whole thing is in the shop. I got hit by, what i could call the "hidden import tax", it was seized pending decontamination. This has been so much frustration i won't go into details, but i'll say if you plan on importing, at least in Canada, don't do it on a budget.

I'll unwrap and unpack it tomorrow and post more.

Might had the radio stolen during shipping, but the thing was well wrapped. I will investigate.
