New Michelin AT tire?

I run 265’s in the winter (and many others do as well) for 9 years on my LX. They are 8% narrower then 285’s and look no different then my summer 285’s.

And many 1/2 tons come with 265’s OEM
I would think they’d look much smaller then 8% difference. Any pics?

Right now they are sitting in my garage. I’ll likely swap them out in the next week or 2, we’ve already had snow at my house and been getting snow in the mountains behind my house daily. I’ll post pictures when I make the switch.

I wish we had snow but unfortunately not. It’s probably why I rarely see skinnier tires on trucks/suvs here. Well needed in your area for sure. I imagine a 275 won’t look that skinny on our 200 then.

I run 275/65/18 Falken Wildpeaks and they don't look any skinnier than the OEM 285/60/18 tires they replaced. I suppose if I were comparing them to 285/60/18 ATs then I would maybe see a slight difference. The Wildpeaks are really great tires BTW.

The Falken might be a little overkill for the southeast and they weigh a lot for a 275/70r18 which is the size I’m going with.
A 275/70r18 requires about 7mm in spacing to correct for KPI. What would be wrong about tires actually inside the wheel well?
I’m probably over thinking it and I do have 1.25” spacers, so maybe the 275 should be fine. I don’t like the look of having my tires insides the wheel well. I even considered a 285/75r18 but those tires are more aggressive then I need or weigh 66lbs ea., which will make the 200 feel a little sluggish I bet

I love Michelin tires and have owned many different styles including a new set of Crossclimate2 I just put on my kids car and they are very quiet and grippy on wet/dry conditions. Much improved over the Scorpions that were previously on her suv. However I’m really looking forward to see how these Revo3 do. Seems like a good road tire for the weekend warrior “minus hardcore off-roading”.

The tire needs to be inside the wheel well so it doesn’t rub under articulation.

True. I wish discount tire had a flex check when test fitting tires. I have feeling a 295 would tuck in. Will find out at in a couple hours. A 285/75r18 would be good but real limited on options.

And if tires are outside fenders, don’t they throw up more rocks/mud too which maybe hazardous to your car’s side?
Absolutely right. The current 285/70 I’m running has a tinny bit of poke towards the lower back side of fender but then any rocks that are kicked up just hit the underside of Slee slider and I added ppf along the rocker panels and the painted areas where the mud flaps were removed. A 295 might be a little more problematic but if I’m running a Revo3 in that size it may not be a real problem as they don’t have the chunky shoulders like the KO2, Ridge G’s, etc. The sway bar will be the biggest concern

Well, 295/70r18 will fit with Heritage wheels and 1.25” spacers if you don’t turn hard right. It just hits right up against the sway bar. Would need to do +18 offset wheels. Not sure how Wescott design was able to fit a 295/70 but they must be fibbing or reduced the full turning radius

I’m fun at parties: If you have to use spacers larger than those required to correct for KPI with taller tires, your tires are either too fat (weird that folks like the looks of wide tires) or too tall (tall is good but there is a vehicular limit).

Lol! Well, I’m not spending any more time on trying to fit a 295/70 at this point. The biggest advantage for me with additional height is for birds eye view when driving. One of the reasons I liked my old LR4 was its command seating height.

Fully agree on the height aspect, rather the width problem. In my estimation a 275 is a near-perfect width for late-model Cruisers, too bad they are limited to a 70 aspect ratio in an 18" wheel. Anything less than 75% is just pushing it for me. My perfect tire size is 275/85r16 or 275/75r18 if you had to be that big of a wheel.

Kenda sells a mild at 275/80r18. I ran them for a couple years and they did just fine. Ended up going to an RT when I moved to 17” rims.

Some pics in my build thread around here.
