Hello all,

Just joined ONSC this morning after a year of lurking and study. Let me first express my appreciation for the wealth of knowledge that has been shared on this site. It is a remarkable resource. I am very impressed by the generosity that members display with their insight and expertise.
I picked up my truck last June, originally intending it to be a beater for beach and camping trips. It did not take long for the Cruiser virus to take hold, and a full build has begun. I hold you all to blame for this 8^)
Enclosed is a picture of the truck in its newly purchased state, with my navigator at her duty station. Everyone from ONSC will recognize the location of the other two pictures, taken on its maiden family voyage.
Build notes to follow. I have really enjoyed reading the narratives surrounding other member's trucks. My build thread may not contribute much new technical guidance, but I hope to contribute some worthy stories.
Look forward to meeting everyone in person. -Ted

Hey Ted, welcome!!! Come out to the Triangle Monthly meeting next week!!

Ted, welcome to the addiction. Whatever you do, don't try Jeeps, it makes the addiction worse.

BTW I love the name of your rig. If you ever buy a 4Runner, you should call it Ursa Minor.

Thanks. Like all good names this one has a story behind it. Subject for a future post.
I like the Ursa Minor idea. The idea of a GX470 as a DD would fit that role perfectly. BTW, I noticed that you are a photographer. Have you made a study of LCs?

Welcome. Beautiful pup.
Many thanks Steve. There are a lot of shepherds among cruiser owners. The rear sliding window on the 80 series seems tailor built for a GSD.

Many thanks for the invitation. Is this the gathering at Rally Point on Feb 1st? Do you have start time?

Can't wait to hear the story.

I guess I am a photographer, it's a hobbyist and "out of necessity" type of thing I suppose. I've been shooting most of the ONSC trail rides as of late. Logan's Run, the Relic Run, and more recently the Portsmouth Island trip are a few memorable shoots. I would imagine the answer to your last question is yes. I guess I have made a bit of a study of LCs.

Look forward to meeting you.

Thanks for the clarification. I plan to stop by tonight and say hello.
Unfortunately, the Mama Bear is over at Suspension Solutions (also in Cary) having castor correction bushings installed. My ride for tonight will be a Honda. Hope that this breach of protocol can be overlooked this one time. -Ted
