Mechanical Specs for the 100 replacement are complete and have been shared with NA Toyota Execs. The new LC is currently slated as an '08 model due for NA release in appxly 18 mos. The vehicle will be a continuation of the current 100 series in both mechanical specs and design. Design will introduce some rounded styling cues but will not be 'Heritage' or 'Retro'. The vehicle is said to be 2" longer, same width, built on a frame. The new LC is completely independent of the Sequoia. Engine displacement, Horsepower and Torque ratings are said to have increased substantially due to NA consumers perspective of the 100 being underpowered. Toyota views the LC as their flagship model and will soon raise the bar for the luxury sport ute market.

Triple S - Just a few random thoughts: Any thoughts as to pricing conveyed and were drawings shared? By same design, does that mean they are retaining the classic lines that have evolved thru the years? The LC is about the only SUV on the road with rugged classic lines and panoramic style windows that you can actually see out of when shifting lanes/backing up. I'm assuming two inch longer wheelbase or is it overall length. Any more than 18 months and they are getting close to it being a 2009 model introduction. Any any additional details would be appreciated.

Especially when in the first post, it seems he is not even very familiar with Land Cruisers, comes back the next morning with the most "definitive" info ever heard about the next gen Land Cruiser.
I hope his info is correct, but not holding my breath...

From CarBest mag in Japan - 04/2006 pub

Some dude visiting Japan posted some info he found in CarBest mag on Edmund's for the 2008 LC and LX. The LC will be a 140 series, with a 4.7L 380HP. The Lexus version will be a 5.5L 395HP. Styling is conservative, at best. Japan pricing for the LC starts at Y6M (~$60K), no LX pricing known. Scheduled release for both trucks is May 2007. CarBest mag in Japan is a very authoritative source, I hear.

This is good news if true. I do not want to see a Sequoia based LC.
