I started to put the top together and wet sanded a bit of orange peel and went through on a couple of spots and i found a few imperfections i didn't like so i repainted the sides again. I gave it 2 weeks to dry and the started to put it all together. Just have to throw the ambi doors on and install glass and tire carrier and i am almost there.

Since the last post i got all the windows in and installed rear ambi doors, rear tire carrier and side mirrors, rear side air vents that i bought over 3 years ago and when i bought them i was told they were the last in captivity. I hate to say it but i think i am almost done.

Very nice, those might have been the very last set around.... There is a guy trying to manufacture them for resale, he is trying a couple types of plastic before he produces them for sale..

Bad *ss Vern.

Very nice work!

Yep @Ambrew in ottawa is trying to cast them. I suspect he may be interested in trying to borrow these from you if he hasn't already found a good copy.

I suspect vern has used tamper proof security scews to fasten those on... (I would)

I was going to make up a set out of aluminum at one point...then I ended up with an unvented top, and my givea**** quotient dropped rather quickly...

I know i am getting carried away now but one last thing that was bugging me was the front hubs. I took them all apart ,cleaned and lube and paint. Good therapy, i feel much better now.

Well i did it , i done gone pulled a Seapotato and sold my 42 before i got a chance to wheel it once. A Cruiser Head from Vancouver had been watching my restoration and said he would be interested in it when i was done. His name is Snow Peak and he came over on the ferry last weekend to check it out and said it was just what he was looking for. H came back yesterday and bought it and took it back to the Big Smoke where they have something called "air care". It was sad to see it go after working on it for 4 years but life goes on and now i can get some work done on the 40. Thanks to all of you that helped me on this project and supplied parts and info and some ass kicking when i slacked off.

You gotta be kidding me. Man oh man I thought I was bad. Vern I might just have a trophy for you.

Am I dreaming??

Well Vern I sure hope you have a pocket full of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Snow Peak posted up on Coastal Cruisers several months ago saying he was in the hunt for a nice 40. He had a very nice 4Runner at the time.

Congrats on the sale, he got a VERY NICE TRUCK!!

I guess it's time to start on your other one...
