Thank you everyone, Ive been super busy working and went back to the dealership where I had it towed and told them give me picture of the bracket so I could post and hopefully one of you could help me. I asked exactly what's wrong, and was told the wiring. So in my mind, I don't think I need a new bracket. Couldn't they do the wiring if that's the case. Please take a look at the photos, all input is appreciated.
What symptoms and did the shop say the wiring issue was in the pump bracket?
The green wire in the photos above, a ground wire IIRC, is known to get chaffed by rubbing against the vertical section of the bracket where the wire crosses over from one side to the other. One fix is to repair/seal the worn sections of wire insulation so they doesn't touch the metal bracket (if that's your issue) or replace the bracket and fuel level sensor now while they're still available from Toyota ( )
Here's one possibly related thread (try a search, there are others);
Hey oh …long time reader, first time poster for troubleshooting…anyways I’ve searched and read tons of mud posts over the last 3wks pertaining to engine shut downs but unfortunately I haven’t been able to solve my issue…looking for any advice to point me in new direction/focus within FSM…
Background: i’ve had my ‘93 FZJ80 for 2 years and i’ve slowly been baselining it and just recently completed a big road-trip: Austin to Telluride to White Sands back home with only real issue was at altitude fuel tank venting and soft brakes…drove great in the heat though!
