Wow, this is perfect! I just sold my old car and have an envelope of cash waiting to order a rack to my WA address. Crazy request though... any chance of doing a lighter powdercoat run some time? Galactic Grey? :D Anthracite? I have a Golden Pearl LX:princess: and the standard rack would be the only black item on the truck. I like my silver 20" Tundra wheels. :) The snorkel and ARB front bumper were both colour-matched by the PO, haha.

I'm sure you could order an unfinished rack and have it powdercoated locally to match your other stuff.

Any update on when the new style racks will be available?

I should clarify... The bumper and snorkel are also Golden Pearl. The truck looks fairly stock at a glance, with the silver Tundra wheels and the offwhite parts. Flat black isn't really a :princess: colour.:p
I'm sure I could get it powdercoated locally but buying finished is always preferable!
Cheers.

I believe Gamiviti sends theirs out to a local powdercoater, so really no difference as long as you have a competent guy doing your paint job. Also, I would most definitely prefer having it done locally when color-matching.

Sorry guys been away from Mud for a while... availability is right now. I've got a few other new things for the site so have been putting off updating it until this week, will get that up there shortly. But pricing will be similar to the others.. within $100 of the other Expo rack packages.

And the other reason for the delay is I've got version 2 hanging in the garage, still unpainted... it's super cold here right now so not sure when I'll be able to get to it. But on this one we added the 4th plate to run 4 towers per side, and brought the basket all the way back to the second to last bar. I am thinking this is the direction to go here. I am also working on a removable sunroof bar option, that one is still very much in the drawing board phase but it's something I want to offer as well. And some other goodies. I'm sensitive to only post up what I can deliver.

If you have something custom in mind based on the basic platform here feel free to contact me we can work out whatever you want. PM's are good, or emails are even faster- sales @ gamiviti.com.

As for powder coating, I have been offering these "unfinished" and letting the end user get that done on their own. I wasn't able to get any significant deal over what could be done locally, and not doing it has helped keep production costs down, helped with handling internally, and reduced shipping costs. Plus it's more attractive to the rattle canner, of whom I am one as well. No question powder coating is a superior solution, but you can to a pretty decent job with a couple cans of primer and a couple cans of paint, a warm weekend and $20. :hillbilly:

nakman - is there a max weight capacity of these racks? Also, are all racks currently available? (Expo, 3/4, 1/2).

For loads these will hold as much weight as you should be putting on your roof- that's my opinion, but no I don't have any official test data. I regularly haul RTT's, awnings, gas, water, bikes, boats, jacks, drywall... and tubing for other racks, I'm sure I have had 400 pounds up there moving and 700 pounds up there while stationary (people in a RTT).

The thing to consider is every rack out there at some point bolts to the same little welded-on nuts inside the roof, and it's my opinion that those will become the limiting factor of your actual capacity before any significant mechanical failure. While I've never seen one fail on a 100, I've seen enough of those buggers spin on an 80 series to make me wonder just how much stronger they really are, if at all. You could hypothetically build a rack out of .250" wall DOM and steel I-beams, but if it's going bolt to a 100 series it's going to have to use the same little M8 threads as everything else. One of the reasons these racks only weigh 45 pounds- leave that capacity for something else.

Yes, all are in stock! Pop on over to the other side of the divide we'll bolt one up. :)

Are the horizontal cross bars the same diameter as the Yakima load bars? I'm wondering if I'd be able to mount my two roof bike racks to the Gamiviti rack...

Thanks!

Thanks, nakman. I think I like the full Expo rack, especially if you're going to extend the basket further back. I'll have to see about trying to head out that way.

fireball - I believe the cross bars are slightly smaller than Yak load bars. (1" vs 1.125"?). You can always shim it up with some rubber tubing, so no issues there. I may also mount either my bike rack or skybox up there. But bikes will most likely go on the hitch rack.

Exactly, it's 1" tubing so you just use something as a spacer. Thin pieces of rubber work well (think bike handlebar gasket material), also plastic 1" sprinkler line works really good- just snap it in place. I also use foam sometimes, like a little piece of the pipe wrap stuff (you can see that in the pic below, it's also what I wrap the racks in for shipping ;)) I have a piece of extra garage door gasket that I've been using, you can see it in this pic:

As long as your Yakima, Thule, Rocky Mount, etc. accessories bolt on "top" of the bars, then you should have no problem making them work here. Only issue you'd run into would be one of the bike racks where the front of the rack starts lower, behind a bar, then wants to slope back gently for 36" or so to the next bar. That isn't going to work, these cross bars are much closer to that.

I'm the same way though, bikes usually go on the hitch rack, or on whatever trailer I'm pulling. I put my Thule box up there all the time though, which is just u-bolts like a RTT.

Alright, you guys can exhale now... I got my full-length Expo++ painted and mounted up today.

Just in time before the snow started falling..

Love it..... You better let me run the mid-length Expo+ for a while and give you some high quality feedback. ;)

Can you mount this one either way too? Running it right side up would really give you the basket style that so many people like.

I would definitely run it basket side up, and maybe even "backwards" with the enclosed end towards the rear. Actually, I think a fully enclosed basket would be ideal for me.

It looks great! I'm guessing one could mount an awning right to the side of that rack.

^^ - now that is really cool !
