Seems like a low price. How is the quality on slides, drawer locks, material, etc? I was expecting to pay above $600 up to $700.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

I'd like to see some pictures.

CNC shop pushed an extra day so pics on Wednesday now - this is not vaporware, I promise!

I promised pics today, and my intention had been a fully assembled set of drawers. Unfortunately the CNC'er made a mistake and we have to recut some tomorrow ;(

But being a man of my word, here is a pic of some of the pieces:

Okay folks, my apologies for any drama getting to this point, but if you ever set out to design, build, design, build, 3d model, CNC cut, recut, build, tweak, kick things, tweak, and then sand the blood out for the photo, you'll understand.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: ideas are the easy part.

This is the 'alpha' unit, the first off the CNC table, and I already found half a dozen dimensions to tweak but the final product is every bit as good as I imagined. Hopefully for you too. The unit below has one drawer with cutouts and one with a handle because folks seem evenly split on which they want so I intended to offer either option when ordering, at least until a buying trend emerges.

I promise more photos and details in a few days but for now I am going to leave you this and then go camping with my family and 'field test' the drawers. Hundred In The Hills is too far and I'm too tired, so I think we'll go for 100 Beers By The River...

Emails to betas, official launch thread with more photos and details, and group buy threads next T/W. Thanks for staying tuned, and hope you all have a great weekend too!
Dave

set out to design....sand: Been there done that.

As you point out, most of the population does not get the "behind the scenes" efforts involved with getting a commercial product to market. Now throw in the words "defense" or "medical".....

Great Job!. I am curious to see design so that I can know how to customize to suit my needs. Would like to add locks or latches so the drawers don't hit the tailgate and I would make cutouts on the sides for added storage and access to the jack compartment. Awaiting Details Patiently

Based on that picture and for the ballpark price listed earlier here, I am 75% committed. I had sort of planned to make something this winter but this is likely cleaner than what I would do and I don't need all the bells and whistles. Excited to see some more info as I try and squirrel some money away. The recent RTT and Gamiviti rack has completely drained my fun money.

Thanks for taking the time to make something like this. I hope that enough people drop money so it is a profitable venture for you and that you continue to make them at least until I'm able to secure the funds to purchase my own set.

Good job @cruzerDave - looking forward to seeing the final specs/prices. May have to plan a trip to Bend - good excuse to go.

I hope I made the beta cut!
