I was thinking about buying a 97 LC with lockers it has close to 400K miles on it. i was wondering if i should just stay clear of this and look for one with a lot less miles. the price is pretty low that is why i am so interested. I do not currently own a LC but wold love to get my hands on one. thanks for any advice!

You're at the right place to get your Cruiser questions answered. '97 was the last year for the 80 Series LC, so the one your looking at is the latest model. 400,000 miles is a lot, but if it was maintained well it might be worth a serious look if the price is right. What do you plan on doing with it if you buy it?

I looks to be in good shape and he is asking $3400 but not too firm on that price. It is throwing 2 codes something for O2 sensor and the EGR and the front end needs some work he said.

At the moment it will be a daily driver but eventual plans is to make it a trail rig to go camping and things like that.

Depending on the front end work that is needed (that could be a huge variable) and if the lockers work it might not be a terrible deal.

The front end has me concerned too. I don't think the front one is working but I have seen on this forum that it is not a hard fix but I don't know what exactly is wrong with it

Even if it has had regular maintenance 400k is a lot of miles for a daily driver. If it's on decent shape it could be a fun project. Good luck!

Just wait, this one sounds like it could hurt.

It seems like it is in good shape new interior front and back leather seats that stuff alone could be worth some money

and actually it is a LX 450 idk how i missed that earlier. but they are basically the same thing if I'm not mistaken.

If you are new to this It could be a :worms:If your a decent mechanic It will be $$$, If engine has not been rebuilt Its due. At 400K If you don't know the complete history Its a risk. Good Luck..! :)

I'm no master mechanic but I am pretty good I have never messed with a Toyota mostly old Chevys on average how much is a new motor? I have seen prices all over the place

not

Yeah I saw that one tonight. Might be a decent deal but it looks like it may have been treated rough. There are a lot of them around our area if you look.
the mileage is my biggest concern. there are a lot of them but they way more $$$ :flush:

How much is a new motor?

I saw one for sale a while back from a swap that was a reliable engine for 800. to a mud member. I have seen them sell for 1600. These engines have a FSM stated 600,000 mile life with a rebuild at every 200,000. So a rebuild Is most likrly still on the table as a possibility and cheapest. A 800. deal I would jump on If all the guy wants Is a V8, that 1FZ was a solid engine with I think 170s k miles. Check In the swap posts. Good Luck..! :)
