This appears to be the only pic I have on file from a mini. It's too dark outside to take anything now.

Edit: found a couple more.

In the last picture you can see the stabilizer I ran on the 4Runner. I believe the kit came from AllPro. On my xcab (center pic) I didn't run one and it worked just fine. Started out with one on the 4Runner but took it off.

I was told by calling skyjacker and using the part number on the front spring i have a 7" spring.

dont feel like it.

i dont use a stabilizer.

cruises down the road just fine.

If i was you, i wouldnt worry about it.
Its nice on IFS, but over rated on a solid axle.

If you have the correct thickness shims under your steering arms and have the bolts torqued correctly you don't really need a stabilizer with a high steer system.

Trailgear says I need to have a IFS steering box in order to use high steer or cross over steering....whatever you wish to call it.

is this true?

Absolutely true.

Here are some pictures of my Marlin Crawler high steer. I didn't run a steering stabilizer at first, but while attempting to figure out a death wobble issue (which later I found to be caused by improperly set toe :bang:) I bought one and installed one. It did help tighten up the steering a little, especially on washboard roads and such, but otherwise it didn't really do much. Since I spent the money on it, I am gonna keep it, but as long as your steering is set up properly and your alignment is done right, they don't do enough for me to suggest you get one. Buy a high steer kit, install it right, check your alignment and enjoy. Its gonna get ditched once I go hydro assist, but for now I am just gonna leave it there.

Here is before the stabilizer:

One note. I've been running my high steer on the 4Runner for only a few years. The after-market 80-series rod ends provided in the kits are not the greatest. I noticed this last spring right before Cruise Moab that my steering was not as tight as it should have been. Cause? The two ends on the drag link were shot. They were replaced with OEM, which were not much more than purchasing them from Marlin, TrailGear, or All-Pro. I'm now paying attention to the two on the tie rod.

Oh you guys bring the good service in this section. The pictures and info is excellent. Here is my plan at this point.

I will get my gear sets(1200 bucks) long travel driveshafts and go ahead and slap on a stab. Then we I GET MY NEXT ROUND OF $$ I will take the advice and go with Marlin High Steer and IFS box:cheers:

I will tell you guys something. This Mini is far more enjoyable to drive than my old 62 with almost 400 k on the clock.

do re-enforce the frame as in my pictures I didn't do it on the first on and it cracked at the box.
the next best thing I did was to weld a brace to the front of the frame. I used this to mount my winch bumpers to.. made the truck feel ALOT more solid.

This is a great place to ask questions. and get at least a good guess at the problem.

oh and drive shafts.. they can be made to be wild long travel.
the square front, dosn't vib.. but the rear sure did. wife is going dual cases so will be making a new rear one. the front might work.
